Hello, I have recently graduated nursing school and soon start my job as a OR nurse. The facility I will be working for does not have a OR intern program, but are willing to train me since I've been a scrub tech for 14 years. Do you think I can get adequate training without a residency program? My first offer, in another state, had a program. So, now I'm starting to get nervous. What you all think?

I had no trouble transitioning from the role of scrub tech to circulator and my hospital doesn't do an intern program either. I made it very clear up front hat I wanted to be treated like someone brand new to the OR. I didn't want my preceptor to think that I understood and knew things that I didn't.

I think it depends on the type of orientation they are going to provide for you. We've had several STs who went on to become RNs in the OR at the same time. They did not participate in our traditional periop program but instead were given, as a group, an abbreviated orientation.
