I work in mid america and would like to know what the average on call average wage is. Right now I get 2.00/ hour to carry a pager. Time and ahalf if we work with a two hour min.

I was told $2.00/hr for up to 24 hours call time, 25+ was $3.00/hr, with time and 1/2 for a 3-hour minimum if called in.

.

We get $2 per hour on the beeper regardless of the time on call, and time and a half with a three hour minumum-- Albany NY area.

DC: $10/hr, if we get called in we have a minimum of 2 hrs paid (normal rate unless you're already at overtime), post call bonus for the next day if you are working 7-3 and leave past midnight..

I cannot believe you all work so hard for so little money. Do you all belong to unions? You should get together and demand your worth. For holding the pager I expect $30 an hour. For working an hour on call I expect on a week night $ 85 an hour. I wouldent get out of bed for anything less.

I read this and thought what a great idea, only one problem- reality sets in and we all work for alot less and some a bit more but no where near what you dream about getting . Obviously you don't or haven't worked in an OR because management would just laugh you out of the office if you proposed this. Nice thought though!

... And if none of us would "get out of bed for less than $85 per hour" we'd all probably have some hellacious bedsores!!! :D

Man, I'm SO bummed out! My last call was last weekend. That was when we changed the clocks, so I instantly lost one hour of beeper time pay. I was gonna use that $2.00 to pay off my student loans...:D

'Course, if I take call in Oct when the clocks change again, I'll get it back...

brewerpaul, I would have used it to fill my car up with gas! ;)

I work for a float pool in a Florida hospital and when we get called off, they do it in 4 hour increments. But, we don't get offered any call pay. So, if we schedule to work 7AM - 7PM, they can call us off from 7A -11A, then they may call us off from 11A - 3P and then from 3P-7P. So, we never really get to make any other plans and we don't get paid for it. Does anyone else have this kind of situation?
