UTMB Summer 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Hi future nurses! I didn't see a discussion board for the summer term of 2017, so I decided to make one myself(: Let's use this forum to discuss grades, TEAS, and the application process. This does include venting! We all know how anxiety kicks in when there's a bump in the road. Good luck to everyone that is applying!

I can't wait for the application period opens. Anyone that is re-applying, any tips?

Hey y'all!

I'm kind of worried I'm toeing the line a little on my GPAs. I have a degree in communication and my overall GPA is 2.94, prereq is 3.0 and science is 3.2. TEAS individual was a 75.4% and I scored Advanced in the science portion... The admissions officer told me I should probably retake the TEAS and try to score a 75 in all portions since my overall GPA is below a 3.0.... Does anyone know of anyone that's gotten in with grades like mine? I'm going to retake the TEAS, but still worried about my GPAs.

Thanks in advance! :)

Hi all, I'm also applying to the summer 2017 term at UTMB. My overall GPA is a 3.92

Science GPA is a 4.0

& I haven't taken my teas yet. I've been studying for it & will take it this month. Where do we send the transcripts & test score? Directly to nursing CAS? Sorry for all the questions, this process is a bit confusing. Is anyone going to the open house in October?

You start NCAS application. You will be able to fill in school info and it will let u print out a file to send to ncas transcript processing center. Must follow instructions. After that everything is pretty easy. Longest part is transcript entry which can be tricky if you have multiple transcripts.

Dont send transcripts to utmb. Directly to ncas processing center. Ncas allows u to email them or call them. They are friendly and have answered all my questions. :) it says on ncas that you are able to upload teas scores and then u fill it out as well. Will be taking my teas on sept 24th.let me know if yall have any more questions.

I'm just making sure, but you can submit your application to NCAS before you take your TEAS, right?

Im not 100% sure, I would contact ncas directly. But i thought you couldn't submit applicatio. Without teas scores. Theres a section on ncas application where you upload scores and then you manually enter them on standarized test section. It is where it explains what the essay focuses on, at the bottom is a teas upload section.

Okay thanks! I'll double check with NCAS!

Hey there !

im kinda in the same boat as far as gpa ,3.0 all around 😫😫😫😫. I made like 88's or 89's on everything. My TEAS V was a 78.5 and I was labeled advanced. I got above a 75% on everything except math.

Ive already put all my things into NursingCas but I'm currently editing my personal essay!

I think you have a shot it just depends on the applicant pool but no matter where you apply it's gonna be very competitive.

This will be my third time reapplying and I f retook my TEAS. Made an 80.7% composite, a lot better than the first time I took it. How many people do they accept into the program?

Hello all,

I applied to Spring and am actually still awaiting a decision. Be prepared for a long wait! But I figured I would start my Summer application since all seats are full and if I get anything it will be wait listed.

Any way, When applying last time I had a 2.99 Overall GPA, 3.2 Science and 3.4 pre req. I also Took three classes over the summer and got all A's so hopefully its higher now. I got a 85.7% on the TEAS and I may retake it to make myself more competitive. They only have 90 seats in the summer (down from about 120 in the fall and spring) but they also have about half as many applicants and the average GPAs and test scores are much lower.

Good to know ! You already seem very competitive !

Has anyone submitted their application yet?
