University of Rochester ABPNN May 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Starting a thread for the May, 2018 start date. Does anyone know the timetable for interviews and the process in general? I was hoping to keep in touch with others along the way. Thank you!

I am thinking we are looking at next year for decisions. Is that your impression?

Yes, it is an one on one interview but I am not sure if it is the same person or not. Yes, the decisions are released next year according to previous threads. The next few months are interviews for both the ABPNN and a possible second interview if you are interviewing for the AMPNN.

Wow, I am sorry to hear that. Who did you interview with?..My interview went nothing like that. I agree it is a very costly investment for a very good school but getting a negative experience from the jump can hinder the choices you make.

I will leave names out of the public thread but I do hope that the university does read this thread and perhaps think about changing how their interviews happen going forward. Like I said before, the interviewers are a representative of their school and they are our first experience/contact with the school and the faculty. As an applicant, the negative experience does make me question whether I should have applied to the school in the first place and whether it will be a good fit for me academically and professionally.

Hey Everyone,

For those of you that have had their interview, were you told about the amount of applicants that receive an interview? It seems like most applicants are offered one. Good luck to all of you that are applying!

Hi everyone,

I also had my interview with the school about 2 weeks ago. I do agreed with TangoDeux that the interviewer didn't prepare for the interview.

I am interviewing on Monday 11/20, glad to hear others interviews have went well I'm really looking forward to time!

If you guys dont mind me asking, what questions did they ask and did they tell you how many people were interviewed?

For me it was why nursing, goals, how did I hear about u of R. It was more of what questions I had about the program

Same as FutureMurse, I asked most of the questions so make sure you have a few questions you want answered about UofR. I did have to clarify a few points on my resume and my nursing experiences so make sure you know your resume well.

My interviewer was prepared, and had read my information ahead of time. Was very nice, and took notes. I had a tour as well.

I heard somewhere that they only interview 100 students, but I have no idea if that is accurate, and I cannot remember where I heard/saw it. Does anyone else have more concrete knowledge on this question?

In what way? Not remembering things about your background (just wondering)? I think about it this way: it would be easy to confuse the applicants when there are back to back interviews. Even if they read your information beforehand, its possible to accidentally recall the dialogue from the the applicant interviewed just prior to you. I would simply correct the misinformation, or supplement missing information, and move on. I imagine they don't get a lot of sleep during this interview process. Prior cohort threads said they were making and fielding calls even on Saturdays during the ramp up to the next session start date. I didn't have your experience, so just throwing thoughts out there? Also, we're not really privy to how many applications they have. If it's 400, and they have 2 months to interview all the candidates, that's quite a full schedule!
