Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Any UofP FNP graduates or people who know anything about the program? I am a nurse in Phoenix (currently working at the Mayo Clinic) and am interested in going back for my FNP sometime soon. turns out Mayo has a partnership with UofP, GCU, ASU and UofA. my BSN is from ASU, but it looks like both ASU and UofA have transitioned to DNP programs, which I am not interested in at this point. ANY info anyone has would be greatly appreciated!

I can't imagine that having such a well known online for profit program on your resume would look good to future employers. I'd think heavily whether you want to invest in that. While many nurses don't care, and seem oblivious to the failures of for profit schools, I assure that physicians (your future employers) will not be so forgiving.

I actually know a lot of graduates from UOP FNP program that I worked with, they are really well prepared compared to some of the cal state NP students I work with. From what I hear cal state Long beach has students look at YouTube during their assessment class?!?!? No lab or anything like that.

Honestly thought that was the norm but UOP has an actual clinic they have the students practice physical assessment.

I think UOP has such a bad rap they actual over compensate with their teaching. Just my 2 cents. Oh, I heard their program is a 3 year program not online only on ground and they are selective with the students only take RNs with 3 years of floor experience only, not outpatient or clinic RNs, I feel like that makes a difference. Good luck!

Many of the NP's I know in the Phoenix area have attended UofP. They have had no issue getting hired or passing boards. UofP has a good reputation in my area, so having them on a resume here does look good to employers. The only reason I did not go there is because of my work schedule requiring me to work certain Fridays and that is a day in class. My employer could not guarantee certain days off due to school. OCRN's information is accurate. They are picky about admissions. Good luck!!

They are not picky about admissions, sorry. They have like a 90% acceptance rate. A picky school means they are acceptance less than 15%
