UMiami ABSN Spring 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Hello Everyone!

I just applied to Umiami's ABSN program for a January 2016 start date. Has anyone else applied or heard back yet? I would be commuting about 50 minutes from Delray Beach, does anyone have experience with Miami traffic? I currently live in Maine and went to school in Boston so I will be new to Florida pending that I am accepted! Any experiences are welcome :)

Best of luck! I was going to apply to UM but moved out of Miami. It will take you longer than 50 min to get to UM from Delray. Miami traffic is horrible, especial heading down to the gables. I used to drive from downtown Miami to the gables and it would sometimes take an hour with bad traffic.

I just submitted my ABSN application as well! I have not heard anything as of yet, but I will make sure to keep everyone posted! As for commuting from Delray to Coral Gables, I also would not recommend it. I currently live in Boynton Beach, which is just north of Delray. If I am accepted into UM's nursing program, I plan to move to Miami. Delray to Miami is just over an hour without traffic, and morning traffic in Miami is horrible. Hope this helped and good luck!!

Hi everyone! I am currently enrolled in UMs ABSN, just started this summer (May 18th) and have 2 semesters left! Figured i'd give some advice since I was in your shoes about 5 months ago ;) For applications, we started hearing back after the deadline. But the sooner you submit the sooner you'll hear back. For my cohort, the earliest replies were in March which was 2 months before our start time. But I know of people that didn't hear back until a week before classes started, so if you can apply early definitely do so!

Also there were a couple people in my cohort and previous who commuted from ft lauderdale, boca, and even west palm.

So if you need to commute from Delray it is a pain but doable. I did it for about a week during my last week of summer. Classes started at 8 am so i'd leave at 6 and get to campus around 7:10 (sunpass will be your bff). I heard traffic in the fall will be worse though, so if you do decide to commute maybe leave at 530 your first week to be on the safe side. I'll be getting a place in miami again though because the drive made me super sleepy haha. Anyways good luck with all your applications! :)

Hey everyone! I submitted my application as well, but still waiting on NursingCAS to verify everything. Is anyone else in the same boat?

I submitted my application as well, and I have not heard anything yet. I called and they said I should hear something no later than 2-3 weeks after the deadline. I am so anxious
