Nursing Students School Programs

Has anyone applied for these schools for Spring 2014? I've been looking for recent threads, but haven't found any so I decided to start one :) It's a tough road to RN, so maybe we can all go through this together!

Also, anyone know how Rio Hondo point system works? There's nothing on their website that says how they add up points. Just wondering where I stand.

Ohoh, and I also applied to Pasadena City as well as Cypress College, but there are already threads for those. But we can talk about them here as well :)

Golden heart,

Congrats! I had 69.5 points and was was told 66 was the cut off, I called and talked to them wondering what happened to my application. Turned out I forgot to include the letter from hospital verifying my 200 hours vonluntering, so they took 4 points off from me, so I'm an alternate. I was so mad at myself, stupid mistake! All the hardwork I did was for nothing !!!

Anyway, congrats to you and good luck with nursing school!!!

This Is My First Time Applying And Only To Rio. I Called And They Said They Are Calling People Within The Next 2 Weeks. No Letters, So Good Luck!

Hello Everyone,

I have applied to Rio Hondo. Im waiting to hear back.

When I turned in my application, the girl at the front desk told me if I get in they would contact me within 3 weeks. Seeing how its now going on 5 weeks and no word i've all but given up.. However, reading colombiancookie9"s comment Im hopeful. :)

Good Luck everyone!

Thank you skymail212! I'm sorry to hear about your situation. It's not an uncommon mistake. After applying to several schools, it can become an easy oversight on which documents are needed in order to submit your application. I'm still waiting to what back from a few other schools, so hang on tight because I might be giving up my seat at SAC & hopefully that will boost you into the program. Thank you again, and good luck to you too!!

Golden heart,

Thanks for those encouraging words. I was just wondering when is the deadline SAC have you to turn in the letter of intent to accept their offer?

November 15 is the deadline to respond. As an alternate, will you be attending the orientation too?

Yes, they told us alternate to come to orientation just in case e get in. Maybe I'll see you there. Which school are you awaiting and hoping to get in?

Wow! I applied there too! I am SO nervous! I have read if you have no volunteer experience when applying to rio - good luck.. I applied last minute because I had just finished my last pre req- my stats are bachelors, 4.0 in science, need to work that's about it.. we will see :/

I have read through so many threads and have still to see anyone to hear anything from Rio. I think we still may have a chance! Wishing all strength and calm. By the way, I am awaiting lvn rn bridge response.

Do you know if we are applying to spring or fall 2014?

Yes they told us alternate to come to orientation just in case e get in. Maybe I'll see you there. Which school are you awaiting and hoping to get in?[/quote']

That's good! You'll be able to get your things in order in case people give up their spots. I'm waiting to hear back from PCC, LA County & LACC.

For spring.

I'm applying for the RN program.
