  1. Which Rutgers campus are you applying to for the ABSN program?

It's a little less than a month-and-a-half from the application due date for both campuses, and I'm up in the wee hours doing my best to ensure all the requirements are ticked off on my checklists :nailbiting:

I was unable to apply for the incoming Fall 2015 cohort, as I had more than three pre-reqs pending, but I'm hopeful to attend Rutgers' Newark campus in the spring. Anyone else excited/scared/unnerved with the application process (especially with NursingCAS; even with an upgrade to 3.0, it still does not seem any more intuitive), or has already completed it? Also, what are your interim plans while waiting for decisions?

After being a bit of stalker on the other threads (sorry!), I'm also hoping it won't turn into the debacle that has happened with the Fall 2015 acceptance letters... although,I might have just jinxed that, and maybe with an application deadline extension, to boot!

Here's to hoping this process goes well for all of us!

I'm applying to both campuses for myself, by the way; I'd rather err on applying to both programs, as opposed to not getting accepted to neither at all! :writing:

Hello all!

I'm glad someone made a thread for the upcoming Spring 2016 semester!

I was one of the individuals that applied to the Newark Campus and was fortunate enough to get in. Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, I am unable to attend the fall semester so I have deferred to begin in the SPRING!!!! So excited about it.... Hopefully things go smoother for the spring applicants, it was truly a grueling process and wait for the fall applicants... but be that as it may good luck to all of you applying for the spring!!!

I am more than happy to help with any questions people might have regarding the application process. :)

Hello! I am applying to Newark for the Spring Semester also. I have yet to submit my personal statement, resume, and finalizing my transcripts. I have two questions about the process:

1.) Where do you submit the essay and resume? Is there a section for it on my NursingCAS or is there a specific email/mail address?

2.) I will be taking the chemistry and microbiology prerequisites this fall in two different community colleges. I do know we are allowed up to 3 in progress courses as per Rutgers Nursing Recruiter Nikia Bomar-Dolce, but does anyone know if I will need to submit the transcripts from those two community colleges in my application beforehand so that they see I am enrolled and in fact "in progress"?

Thanks in advance!! :)

I hope I get in!!!! I need a miracle! Lol how is everyone else's experience going with the application process? The resume, personal essay, how you feel about getting in, your experiences with Rutgers administration via phone calls and/or emails for whatever reason, etc....Wishing everyone the best of luck!

Hey adrilambb!

Thanks, and do your best with your classes! Here's what I've been doing, and hopefully this helps with your questions!

1.) Where do you submit the essay and resume? Is there a section for it on my NursingCAS or is there a specific email/mail address?

When you log into NursingCAS and access your "My Application" screen, navigate to the "Program Materials" from the four tiles on the right-hand side of the page; from there, click on the program you're applying to (in this case, it should be the "Accelerated BS in Nursing - 2nd Degree Newark Spring 2016" option). After clicking, the page should give you the Program Details under the "Home" tab; click on the tab next to it marked "Documents"--here is where you upload your Personal Essay and Resume! NursingCAS will then forward those documents to Rutgers nursing admissions office.

Word of advice: if you're documents are in .doc format, convert it to .pdf (If you're on Microsoft Word, or another word processor application, there should be the option to do so when you "Save as..."). In actuality, you should always (unless advised otherwise) convert to a PDF, as to add security to your documents--you don't want mischievous people changing up your information from your .doc, and then claiming it's what you've sent them! :nono:

I've gotten my resume completed, but I'm still working on my personal essay...:writing:

2.) I will be taking the chemistry and microbiology prerequisites this fall in two different community colleges. I do know we are allowed up to 3 in progress courses as per Rutgers Nursing Recruiter Nikia Bomar-Dolce, but does anyone know if I will need to submit the transcripts from those two community colleges in my application beforehand so that they see I am enrolled and in fact "in progress"?

NursingCAS 3.0 makes it much easier to indicate that a course, or set of courses, is/are "planned/in-progress". First, make sure you add the community colleges that you will be attending in the fall when you go to your "Colleges Attended" module, under the "Academic History" tile from the four-tile panel screen; afterwards, select the "Transcript Entry" module and enter the Fall semester for both colleges, BUT be sure to click the checkbox on the right-hand side that says "planned/in-progress"; you will not be able to add information in the "Credits", "Grade", and "CAS Grade" fields, but from what I understand, you can update the information post-application submission once you've earned your grades for those courses-in-progress.

Be sure to have a transcript send immediately after the courses have been completed and grades have been posted; even better: once classes have started, start up the transcript request order online, but place a "hold" on it until grades have posted. Your credit card will not be charged until the semester is over.

I hope this information helped! I've been trying not to stress out with the application process, as I'm also finishing up the last of my pre-requisite courses, and finals are this coming week... :dead:

I've been attending a community college for all the lab science pre-reqs; two summer sessions/5-week modules, and my brain has slowly liquefied (shouldn't that be a good thing, especially when it's to "get the juices flowing"? :bored:) I've just done A&P 1 and 2 simultaneously in a 5-week module in Summer session 1 and aced both. Now finishing up Micro, Gen Chem 2, and Lifespan Psych [online] for Summer session 2; need to kill the final to get a B/B+ for Gen Chem 2, but I'm at least confident that I'll ace Micro and Lifespan Psych. I only wish I could've taken my Biostat class over (earned a B), but there's only so much one can do in such a short amount of time! :wacky:

I also need to check in with my recommendation contacts, to make sure they've completed or are completing the online forms in a timely fashion; although we do have some time post-application submission, I'd like to knock out every application requirement well-ahead so that my application is reviewed early... and get considered early, as well!

Just to add to your very well informed post Lacerti  (I wish you were around when I was applying btw lol) you can send the transcripts even after the application deadline. I know this because I got accepted into the program but with a note saying "as long as I provide proof of passing grade from one of my courses" - Nutrition was that missing course.

Like Lacerti mentioned, as soon as you have those transcripts send them ASAP just to avoid any issues.

Lacerti, WOW thank you so much for knowing every answer to my questions! You are so helpful and I feel a lot more at ease.

Sounds like you had one heck of a summer -- and here I am, still complaining about my Summer 1 A&P2 6 week class that ended on July 1 because I am still scarred. Lol! It's obvious you are capable of doing great things to be pulling As.

I'm a little worried because I got a C in Stats but everything else is a B and higher. But I'm hoping they don't weigh that against me TOO much.... I swear there's more to me than knowing standard deviations!! Haha.

Has anyone heard any good or bad things about the program? I'm curious to know what clinical locations have been offered in the past.

Hi all,

I am stressed with my application because NCAS has still not verified my transcript. I called and they said that it will take 4 to 7 weeks. Are you guys having the same issue? Should I still apply and hope that in 13 days they will verify my transcript?

I am having the same issue but I also received an email saying that my application status is "complete" and that in the complete status, the schools can view all of the information that I have submitted so I'm not sure if the fact that my transcripts and references have not been verified yet is a problem. I am concerned as well!

Hey all,

Now I'm worried--did the program require to have the all the transcripts verified? All I had were confirmations that all my transcripts have been received a few weeks ago.

Just contacted the nursing admissions department, and was told that the application is considered "complete" only after the transcripts have been verified by NursingCAS; confirmation of receiving transcripts is not sufficient. However, I was also informed that the deadline has been extended to October 1st.

So, DO apply in the next few days, and to allow time for verification--and for everyone else, keep tabs on the verification of transcripts!

Hi everyone! I will be applying to this program and am very relieved that the deadline has been pushed back til October. I have been waiting for my letters of recommendation to be uploaded. I am submitting my application today! How long was everyones personal statement? I am unsure if my mine is too long.

Thanks!
