Regis College Direct Entry BA/BS 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi,

I've applied to Regis College's Accelerated BS/MS for their early decision I round this October! Just decided to start this discussion as we all share our thoughts on the program, why we applied, etc.

A bit about myself, I'm a current senior in college applying for the program next year. What I love about it is you don't necessarily have to commit to a specialty before entry, which is uncommon for DE programs.

I should hear back by the end of October, so I'll keep you updated. Any current or former students from this program are welcome to chime in as well!

Hi AquamarineHealing!

I'm also applying to the Direct Entry Program at Regis, but I wanted to wait to apply since I'll have to respond within a month and I won't have heard from anywhere else. Is Regis your top program? What others did you apply to? I'm also a senior in college, and it's nice to see someone in the same boat! Sometimes it feels like everyone in the applicant pool has years of experience in their field, which can be intimidating!

Best of luck!

Hi NPToBe! I totally agree, so comforting to see someone else at a similar stage in life is out there!

I'm between Regis and Columbia's MDE/DNP program right now, I shouldn't hear from Columbia until February though. I'm having a bit of regret, I think you made the right decision to wait, as I've heard there are two 1k deposits for Regis after acceptance and a couple months after to hold my spot if I were to get in.

I mainly applied early for the comfort of knowing I could get in somewhere this early in the cycle lol.

I'm also applying to BC, MGH, UMass Worchester, Northeastern, and Yale. How about you?

I considered doing that too just because I'm so anxious about whether or not I'll get in anywhere...I have absolutely NO idea where I stand in the applicant pool!

I'm applying to BC, UMass Worcester, Regis, Yale, and Simmons (my current school where I'll complete my undergrad!). Each school has its own pros/cons, but I really want to go for the pediatrics specialty, so Yale, BC and Regis are my top programs as the other two only offer family licensure. The nerves are definitely getting to me, this is already such a roller coaster!

So updates!

Had my interview earlier this month and recently got my acceptance email from Regis! I visited the school last weekend and have been emailing and talking to some current students there and I think I'll go ahead and send in the deposit.

There is so much I love about the facilities, program structure, and all together the sense of community there. I'm so excited!!

Something has to be said for the flexibility in specialty selection until year 2 when the BSN and NCLEX exam is passed. I can see myself as a Psych NP, Family NP, or a Pediatric NP so having the leeway to do my nursing clinicals and see where my interests lead me is huge.

Hi aquamarinehealing,

Just wondering if you submitted your deposit to Regis?!

Also one question, how long did it take them to get back to you to schedule an interview?! Thanks!

Congrats on your acceptance @aquamarinehealing! I just got an email to set up a phone interview. Did anyone else get invited to do a phone interview instead of an in person interview?

Hi newengland2015!

I did! I was surprised by it because I live in Boston, so I had no problem making the drive. I even offered to come to Regis, and instead ended up getting a phone interview.

My only thought is that it may be because the interviews are short (mine lasted only about 20 minutes, as he said it would at the beginning of the call) so perhaps they don't want people to feel as though they've wasted time driving there? The whole process seemed odd though!

I live in Boston and thought I thought it was odd as well! Hope your interview went well!

@NPToBe

I considered submitting the entire deposit but it's just too steep, not worth it this early in the application process!

Congrats to both of you!!

I visited and also felt a bit unsettled on campus though the interview went stellar and the facilities and faculty I met that day seemed okay...PM me if you would like to talk about this in candor.

Just received an acceptance! Aquamarinehealing, you were right about the steep deposit... :uhoh3: Exciting, nonetheless!

I got my acceptance email, too. I also got into UMass Worcester, so that's probably where I'll go. I already sent them my deposit! I wonder when we'll get information on financial aid / cost of attendance?
