PLU ELMSN 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Just wanted to start a thread, it was really helpful last year while applying (I got waitlisted but wasn't selected). Anyway, it was a great way to keep each other updated with how the process works and when interviews/selections/emails started to come from the school, a nice sounding board for going crazy with impatience waiting, waiting, waiting. I am applying for the 2018 entry into the ELMSN program at PLU and hope to submit my app within a week or two.

Thanks for replying at all, I think we all know how busy you are ;-)

I cannot figure out how to reply and tag people or quote, sorry everyone.

billyjo007 I bet they do an initial screening when each app is submitted and weed out anything they know would not work. Just a thought because you said you knew your app has a few issues.

The most frustrating thing about the program is the disorganization with the policies, syllabus and clinical placement. There are some people are VERY annoyed of it and has been addressing them to the faculty. This problem is not new though. When I was on last year's forum, someone from the 2016 cohort has talked about it before.

Could you be more specific about what is so disorganized? From what I have read about the program things are pretty straight forward in regards to classes. Clinical placement from what I have heard is always a bit chaotic.

On another note. I applied here USF and OHSU. I heard back from PLU nearly right away in regards to some pre-requisites they wanted more information about syllabus and what not. They haven't sent me anything else so I assume that they are considering my application.

USF did not interview, they accepted me... but due to some other changes since my application I turned down the slot.

ALSO on another note. There are scholarships and fellowships you can apply to for the program that all have deadlines coming up fast.

What scholarships and fellowships?

What scholarships and fellowships are you referring to?

Seriously? You all need to scour the PLU page a little harder!

Hey guys, long time lurker here, finally posting to tell you all whats up with my ELMSN app! So, I received two emails this morning... one was regarding the admissions interview. It was as formal as it gets and said they'd like me to setup a time! The options were Friday, Monday, or Tuesday of the next few weeks. I was SO excited and completely baffled that Im hearing back so soon. I applied on Dec 1. through nursingCAS. However, the second email said that the prior email had been sent in error and that I'd hear back from them soon.

Fantastic. Anyone else have anything funny happen this cycle? I've heard some denial emails were sent out (sorry!!!!!)?

I wonder if my "error" email was because im a crap candidate (doubt it, but still!)

Talked to PLU today they have approved my prerequisites. That was all they had to say...

So, officially there will be no interviews this round, I spoke with grad admissions this week and they said they hoped to let us know by end of February which is a lot earlier than I thought. Anyone else have to do an update in NursingCAS? Such a pain because in my situation they actually already had the info, for some reason my last classes I finished last year were listed as in progress, I updated it and am so glad that I called to double-check because they never would have added those grades, they had to send my transcripts they've had since October to be rescanned and reverified to include the classes that were listed as in progress. Frustrating but at least it's done.

Ooo thank you for the information about interviews! I know a lot of us weren't sure if they were going to be happening this round.

And yep, I was finishing my last prereq (microbiology) when I applied, so I had to update it with my grade, and resend transcripts once the quarter was over.

Did anyone download their app after submitting it on NursingCAS just to see what it looks like?

I did, and when I got to the essay we had to submit, it appeared as just one giant paragraph (in the downloaded application), even though I formatted it when I initially typed it into the text box.

Anyone know if it just condenses it for download, or did something mess up? I'm just anxious and want this very much, so I don't want something little to mess up my chances lol
