  1. 1st semester our clinical hours are a 4 hour block. Following clinical there is charting to accomplish and things like that so you can plan for your clinical days to be 6-7 hours of time commitment. Following semester 1 we're going to be both on campus and offsite so its important to have a good family care plan going into it.
  2. Im currently in semester 1 at Linfield. I like the program setup quite a bit. There are quirks that take some understanding and getting used to but every program out there has that. I personally don't have class Monday's, then I have class all day Wed/Fri then I am in a clinical setting Tues/Thurs. The cohort is split into 3 different class blocks so not everyone has this same schedule. I have 2 kids at home and it took some significant coordinating with my partner to figure out how to manage kid drop off times, class start times etc.
  3. I received my acceptance letter today as well. Those of you waiting for a decision still, along with the letter it detailed when you can start doing the health screen and background stuff which you cannot start until November... EXCEPT your Flu shot needs to be Sep/Oct so get it meow, and save the drama.
  4. Anticipation is brutal!
  5. Thought it would be nice to follow up with some of my post application experience. I recently had a phone consult on how I could better my application for the next cycle. First bachelors is in behavioral science. Overall CAPSA GPA all things included 3.65 Science GPA 3.79 (I have a D from about 10 years ago that really weighs me down) I was told my GPA was to lower than average, however since the BSN-FNP program looks at the whole person not just GPA they also gave the feedback that my essay was excellent however it lacked in the ME category. Apparently in my essay I didn't let the reader know enough about me. I was under the impression that my essay was meant to outline my goals for the career field and illustrate my understanding of the role. Oh well. Good luck everyone.
  6. I just informed admissions that I will not be attending and they will be filling my seat. So whomever is on the waitlist good luck to you all!
  7. I read a lot of other threads about past year applicants. All our frustrations are the same as theirs. I email the school with specific questions or comments and I get a generic email back with links, cut and paste responses that don't address any of my questions. From what I understand the ABSN program has a specific number of seats, since the ABSN program any of the ABSN-DNP/MSN students also need a seat in the ABSN portion. All of these programs look at 1 thing, what is your likelihood of throughput. If they believe you will finish the program and be a good representative of the school you will get in. If you don't have any history of accomplishing long term goals, they may weight your motivational essay more heavily. The point is they won't put someone in the ABSN-DNP program if they feel they may dropout/withdraw following the ABSN program.
  8. Just an update for those still wondering how the process works... I received my acceptance email on the 10th, received a welcome packet by mail the 19th.
  9. I applied to the ABSN and the ABSN-DNP program. I also applied to a couple MSN programs for non-nurses that I was accepted to so I'm anxiously waiting for an interview with OHSU. Just moved here from SoCal in anticipation for acceptance!
  10. Stats and background... Took me a bit to figure out where CASPA calculates the GPA. CASPA Calculated GPA 3.46 (Science GPA 4.0, bachelors in behavioral science 3.67) Prerequisite GPA 4.0. GRE W:4, 155 157 I have been to 12 colleges, in person, online, etc. 14 years military service, Air Force special operations. EMT for 10 years not a primary job never actively practicing. 10 years certified rescue diver with volunteer experience, 4 years wilderness EMT with volunteer experience. 750 paid hours in the last 2 years as a Emergency Department Scribe. I was previously accepted to University of San Francisco EL MSN which I politely declined. I also applied to OHSU Accelerated BSN-DNP Program and am confident I will at least get an interview there. Want to know more just ask.
  11. I also received my email of acceptance today! It shows that acceptance is still pending my official transcripts from a college I am attending, even though none of the current classes I'm in are pre-requisites. Good luck everyone! The email address came from @Plu.edu address so you can set a filter to keep that out of the junk box.
  12. Talked to PLU today they have approved my prerequisites. That was all they had to say...
  13. Seriously? You all need to scour the PLU page a little harder! Financial Aid & Scholarships | MSN | PLU The Dean's Excellence in Nursing Leadership Graduate Scholarships $8500, Deadline Jan 15th took less than 5 minutes to fill out Graduate Fellowships - Deadline Jan 15th took less than 10 minutes to fill out
  14. Could you be more specific about what is so disorganized? From what I have read about the program things are pretty straight forward in regards to classes. Clinical placement from what I have heard is always a bit chaotic. On another note. I applied here USF and OHSU. I heard back from PLU nearly right away in regards to some pre-requisites they wanted more information about syllabus and what not. They haven't sent me anything else so I assume that they are considering my application. USF did not interview, they accepted me... but due to some other changes since my application I turned down the slot. ALSO on another note. There are scholarships and fellowships you can apply to for the program that all have deadlines coming up fast.
