Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone,

As of right now, I'm nearly done with all my prerequisites. (I plan on getting my CNA done and pick up remaining electives for other schools) but I'm really worried that my GPA will hold me back.

I've looked into OHSU, Linfield, University of Portland, Concordia, George Fox and other community colleges but I'm afraid that my GPA (Cumulative is 3.08) is going to hold me back. It's not that it's a lack of work, and I've given it my all but with the C's (there's 2) and B's on my transcript I'm scared that no one's going to want me.

Are there any other programs that I could look into that are accredited or ways I can try to help my chances of getting accepted? I was referred to Sumner and ITT Tech but I'm not sure how good that's going to be for the long run. Nursing is what I really would like to do in life and I'm scared that I'm going to lose that.

I guess what I'd really like help with is

  • What can I do to boost my chances of acceptance?
  • What are good alternatives to schools? are they accredited?
  • Should I go finish up a bachelors degree at PSU and then try again?
  • How good are programs like Carrington College, Concordia, Sumner, ITT Tech and Everest?

Again, thank you so much for reading!! I really appreciate it and any advice you could offer!!

If you haven't already chosen, I want to steer you away from Linfield. It is a great, tight-knit community... but their most recent NCLEX scores are really poor (
