Nashville State Nursing 2013

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone, I just received a letter from Nashville State for an interview for nursing. Just wondering if anyone else has gotten a letter or has already been through the interview process. I'm hoping I get accepted for the Fall 2013 nursing program. I'm very anxious!

What exactly was the "anguish and mental abuse"? Go into detail and not pepper it with exaggerated comments like hoping the program "goes down in flames". Don't all new programs have kinks? Isn't that a known risk anyway? Aren't all nursing programs challenging? Not everyone is going to be happy, and I appreciate the warnings and feedback, but come on, we are happy to be accepted into a nursing program. Please don't rain on our parade...

I agree with your post, janandrewss. I hate that my comments were reported as "abuse". Truth is truth. I probably shouldn't have said specifics, but what was said was said. And to the person who said "there is probably more to the story" and "there are those that screw up and then want to place blame", yes, there is much more to the story, but apparently I can't post it here because it will get deleted. So you will find out yourselves. As far as screwing up and placing blame, no, I didn't screw up, I scored very high throughout nursing school and graduated with a high GPA, because I worked my rearend off. As I said in my earlier post, I passed NCLEX on the first try, thanks to the Hurst Review. So there was no screwing up and placing blame. I am simply saying what was true.

Ok, so in reply to your request for going into detail about anguish and mental abuse, how about when an instructor told us we could not ask any questions regarding missed questions on our tests, and when we did, she took away extra credit points and publicly humiliated the several students who had emailed her with legitimate questions about the correct answers to test questions. And the instructor who gave a test, but told one group of students what specifically to study for the test, and when the whole class took the test, about half failed the test because they didn't have the "heads up" about what to study, whereas the other half of the class passed because they were tipped off. And then the students who failed were given another test to try to bring their grade up, but it wasn't the same test or questions that the ones who passed were given. And there's the clinical instructor who made stuff up about a student (who had the utmost integrity and high morals), yet when the student had to go before the 'people in authority', the accusor was not allowed to be present, so the student accused could not question why she was being unjustly accused. And yes, there were witnesses who knew the student was unjustly accused. But that didn't matter, she was given several clinical incidents and dismissed from the program. Nothing could be justified by the "people in authority". These are just a drop in the bucket of the things that happened.

Evidently the all nurses website does not approve of me or my story with all of you. I put the link online here weeks earlier of the same letter that was sent to appropriate state and federal authorities but it too was deleted from this site. In the letter all the wrongdoings were exposed. if you really want to know, i will share with you in an email my personal experience. You are asking me so i am willing to share as it is a legal right to share. But please don't chastise me for telling you my opinion! If you don't believe me or the other student, contact current students ... I promise you ...the nursing program is suffering from poor leadership. Yes you all will most likely get through it all and find jobs but its not a recommended nursing school! Your experience may not be what you are hoping for. It is my professional advice and obligation to warn new aspiring students to research schools first...unless there has been faculty leadership changes at Nscc nursing school, be ready for an uncompromising challenge in 2013-2014!

Ok. Thanks for the info. Hopefully the issues are being worked out. But I'm sure the bullying isn't any different from that of a medical school, law school, or other competitive, challenging programs. Nursing isn't for the weak hearted anyway. I mean, nurses take emotional and physical abuse from patients and their families all the time. Better to toughen us up now. So in the mean time, I am going to be proud and positive that I'm one step closer to becoming a nurse.

You have a good attitude and I am happy to help you in any way on your journey but please do not accept bullying ever! It is not acceptable in any form or fashion as you will soon realize. All nursing organizations will support my statements. If you are ever put in situations that you feel you are being bullied, it is VIP that you feel you can report it. Nursing is working very hard to combat this old attitude that it is acceptable behavior. It is not acceptable. We are trying hard to change this. Good luck and just know I am only trying to share an honest experience.

The bitterness you feel from us is very real! What better things though can you invest in that will prevent approaching anguish than what we have tried to warn you of? Goodbye ms Morris and good luck at Nscc!

Do you recall what your received on your Teas and Gpa?
