Kaplan College ADN - San Diego, Spring 2014

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello Everyone,

Just wondering if there are any students starting the ADN program at Kaplan in San Diego this coming January 2014. Hope to hear from some of you soon!

Hi Tiffany,

I took most of the Pre-Req's I still need psych and soc though... Have you already interviewed with the dean? I am going this Friday at 12pm. I am so excited for the start! I am scheduling my financial aid appointment this week and then I should know what my schedule is going to be like. I have a question for you. Do you know of any scholarships or grants that may be available. I ask because like you I have a previous Bachelors, which means I have used some of my student loans already and I am trying to minimize the amount I have to pay back. Any information you may have will be very helpful and appreciated! We are going to be Nurses soon! Did you receive an estiamted grad date of 09/15/2015? I was told since I have most of the pre-req's that is estimated date of completion...Well talk to you soon!

Roxy

Roxy,

I met with the Dean on Thursday. I have Micro on Mon/Wed. Nursing 101 on Tue from 7-330 and we'd from 8-10 and Friday I have Nurs 100 from 12-2. When you meet for financial aid they will give you a list of places to go for scholarships and help you with grants. Rene was really helpful and they give you a list of sites to go to for scholarships. What is your schedule like?

And yes I was given the same graduation date!! I hope we have some classes together :)

Hello, my name is Danee, I was wondering some informationabout financial aid. Do you pay while you are in school? How much? I have student loans pending, and I'm tryingto get into the program also. I will love to know about how much before going throughthis entire process. I am applying for May 2014 start.

So excited for all you starting up in January! You might want to clarify your grad dates. If you are an LVN, you would have a grad date of September, but all others are 6 semesters not 5 which should put you graduating January of 2016.

I hope this helps!

Happy Holidays!

Hello, my name is Danee, I was wondering if you knew anything about financial aid process. Were you able to get financial? Do you have to pay while attending, if so an estimate, please. I attended LVN school and already used portion of allowable amount. I do not qualify for pell grant.

Hello all! I have prepped for Kaplan starting when I was laid off as a CNA in August '13. I did the wonderlic and got 24. I took the KTP scoring 97% in reading on first try and only 86% in math but retook it and got 96%. I only had a year of health experience. I found out right after Thanksgiving that I didnt get in but my rep quoted incorrect test scores that were submitted. They had used only my first two scores. Then I was placed on the wait list... I am currently 3rd in line and very good chances Ill be starting. I had the meeting with the assistant DON but do not have a schedule yet. I will be at orientation as well. Hope I get to start.

The frustrating part is that I cannot start applying for scholarships or grants till I have been formerly accepted (understandably so). I did briefly get to tell the finance dept that I wanted to try NOT to use student loans at all. I have some credits that will knock a few thousand off the price but I am so nervous there will be a steep monthly fee. Anyone else NOT going the student loan route that has worked out a plan with financial aid? I feel like I need a ballpark amount and no one at Kaplan seems to be able to give that to me! :)

Hey Tiffany,

I got my schedule on the 20th of December, but my transcripts had to be re-evaluated so I am hoping to get the updated schedule today after the Nursing Orientation. I know that I am supposed to have fundamentals of nursing and Academic Strategies if I am not mistaken, but I will find out for sure today what my schedule is going to be..... Oh...I am so excited for the start. See you in a bit!

Hello everyone,

I was a student in West Coast University and was academically dismissed after failing two nursing courses with a C-. I since then retook those classes and received a B+. I then failed another Med-Surg 2 with a C, but unfortunately my percentage was not a passing one. Does anyone know if nursing courses will transfer over?

Has anyone got in the Kaplan ADN program with test scores below the ideal 86%?

Hello can you guys answer my questions? How are the test for entrance exam like? any tips?
