Gateway CC LPN Cohort Fall 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey All,

I thought I'd create a thread for future LPN applicants awaiting admission for, hopefully, the Fall 2016 cohort.

I was hoping for a lucky spring 2016 spot, but oh well..., so here's to hoping for this fall.

I finished a nursing assistant course at Paradise Valley Community College and submitted my PN application on 12/7/2015. So I thought others can share their "patience" on here like me.

I emailed the advisor today to see if there was a way to check our place in line on the waitlist. I know RNs are able to check the nursing hotline to see their number. But didn't get any response today. Maybe Monday

I doubt it. Maybe cause the RN wait list is a bit longer I imagine? But if they did that would be amazing! Anyone receive any notifications?

Still nothing !!

:nailbiting: so is anyone here planning to work Full time? Part time while in the program? Are you guys working as CNAs? I plan to switch to part time. Working as an MA has its disadvantages :/ Mon-Fri only 8-5.either that or go back full time as CNA night shift. Wish I would've worked part time since day uno. But college unfortunately is not cheap lol

*Manages to forget about the placement going on, does work for about 2hrs then phone vibrates with email notification. Checks email: 3 new messages! Wait .... Oh it's just a bill reminder and sale advertisements. Whyyy oh whyy!! Anxiety begins all over again.. :sour:

Does anyone know if they at least send out the "We regret to inform you.." emails too? Lol.

I work full-time now as an rna . I plan to switch to part-time once I start the program.I wish I could know one way or the other if I get to start in August this anticipation is killing me.

I'm working part time right now as a music teacher since that's what I got I my BA in at ASU a couple years ago. I did the cna class last fall and got my cna but I didn't make enough working as one. So...I'm basically using the money I earn now to pay for nursing while my fiance helps with the other financial stuff.

I'm frustrated at this point since I've heard nothing. I'd rather hear now if I got in our not. As far as knowing if they tell us if we don't get in? I wish I knew...

What type of setting? I eventually plan to do the same with the fall semester accepted or not. I've put my job first too many times and it's pretty much just delayed my education. Have u attended GWCC before?

Hey that's pretty cool! What made you head towards healthcare? I didn't make much as a CNA either, but the flexibility and my own scheduling was amazing. Plus the opportunity of being able to experience what it was like in each dept was pretty cool. I was floated all over the hospital, so it gave me a pretty good idea of which path I wanted to take. I eventually ended back full time at my first job as an M.A. I loved the rush of two jobs but my body eventually had enough. :dead:

Yeah not knowing anything so far is nerve racking. Plus my email is horrible it resembles my last name but i dropped one letter so I'm thinking, "Oh god! I wonder if they typed in my whole last name in my email." I regret my email choice to this day because of that.

Seems like they are taking longer with placement for LPNs this year? From previous cohorts blogs, seems like they knew much sooner?

After having a hard time finding work as a music teacher, even in the schools, I decided to make the change. When I went to school for music, the entire time I couldn't help but think that I made a wrong choice. I was considering nursing and medicine before I even declared my major. So while working a desk job, I started researching nursing options within the community colleges. So early last year I signed up for the CNA course at PVCC then finished the class in November. Soon after and December I submitted my LPN application. So ever since I've been waiting to get in for the LPN program.

I was looking over one of my emails with one of the advisers from Gateway and she mentioned that the PN applications being considered for fall 2016, will be the applicants that submitted their papers and whatnot from July 2015 to December 2015. So if that's the case my chance of getting in this fall seems even more slim than I was hoping -- even though she did say that I have a good chance of getting in this fall. So I don't know. Whatever the case I'm submitting my RN application next month in June.

Yeah I understand the feeling of making the wrong choice. Nursing was my first option since day 1. But I had changed majors a couple times (such a waste of time). And long and behold I ended up back to nursing. Have u guys heard anything!? I got an email!! (After 3 emails and a voicemail later) lol. They have 64 seats available for the fall cohort.! I was given the day and evening schedule and told to reply by the 16th with my preferred schedule. They would try to accommodate to my preference but of course those who were on the waiting list longer would get dibs first. Not sure what place I was. She did not mention. 64 seats! I hope you guys got offered placement!!! :) it took me a minute to process what I had just read upon opening my email.

Yay!!When did you get the email ? Which are you wanting day or evening?
