Feedback on Regis or Simmons Accelerated Nursing program?

Nursing Students School Programs

Hi there,

My name is Emily and I'm new here. I was hoping to reach out to all of you and ask for your feedback.

I'm 35 years old and after my mother's diagnoses with leukemia (AML) and bone marrow transplant last year, caring for her has led me back to school down the path of nursing. It was through caring for my mother and watching all the nurses involved in her care while she was at the hospital, that made such a profound impact on me. I now want to give back and help others and their families, the way my mothers' nurses helped us which made all the difference.

I was recently accepted into both accelerated nursing program at Regis College and Simmons. I am currently taking a pre-req at Regis and it is ok. I took a tour at Simmons and of course a beautiful school in the heart of Boston.

They also seem somewhat comparable in price.

I would so appreciate if anyone out there has any feedback for me regarding Regis vrs Simmons accelerated nursing program or nursing program in general, I know everyone has a different opinion, which I respect very much. If anyone has attended either school or program or has heard anything, good, bad and ugly, any information you could give me I would very grateful. I will be making my decision by next week.

Thank you all in advance.

Emily

Hi Lillian,

I just saw this! Honestly, I would pick Simmons! I go to Regis now and I am not very happy with the school itself. I am 30 and I can tell you even the accelerated program I feel like they treat you like a little kid. I am dissapointed with the school and have had my ups and downs with them. I always feel like I have to fight and I pay for my education out of pocket so it upsets me. I honestly would tell anyone to go somewhere else. Besides Simmons is a great school! I had a friend get her NP there and she is a wonderful nurse! Good luck with your decision. If you have anymore questions just reply back I think it should notify me! :)

Thank you , Lillian is actual my moms name , I'm Lillianstrong for her😊. My name is Emily. Thank you for taking the time to give me your feedback I really appreciate it! I'm sorry for your experience thus far at Regis 😔. I'm taking 1 class there currently ( chem105) for my pre-reqs. It's not too bad.

i did decide and chose Simmons for several different reasons, even though my commute will be a little longer , they will end up being less $ & I know my clinicals I will be placed in Boston and when it comes time for my preceptorship, Simmons will place me with my input , not something I have to worry about.

From what I heard from Regis it's more on the student to find their own preceptorship and they will do their best to help you. Also from what I heard, a lot of their clinicals are in Bedford ,Lawerence some at Newton Wellsley. I rather be in Boston hospitals .

Thank you again for your feedback it did help solidify it for me. Hope your experience gets bette!!! Or maybe you could transfer to Simmons??

Hi Emily,

Sorry for the name mistake. Yes, you do have to find your own preceptorship which is a pain and a lot of people are having trouble because there is a lot of competition out there. I am looking into Simmons for their NP program but also others too. We do, do clinicals in Boston also I am at Tufts currently, but Simmons is a VERY well known colleges and it is in Boston so it will be easier for you. I wish you the best of luck! Who are you taking Chem 105 with? McQuaid?
