CUNY SPS Online BSN Spring 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Hey all!! Starting CUNY SPS online BSN program this Spring! Since this is an online degree and fairly new to me, wanted to start a discussion with those already in program and/or my new peers for this upcoming semester.

Hi! Sorry for the late reply but I just finished my first semester at CUNY SPS after finishing my ADN program at KBCC. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have.

Hi there! I'm not OP, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on the SPS BSN program. I'm thinking about attending after I finish my Associate's, but I'm a little worried about the online nature of it, the fact that the program hasn't been around too long, and how the program is structured. Also, do you know how long the program itself takes from start to finish? I was having a hard time figuring that out from the website.

Thanks a ton!

I'm doing my second semester now. The online nature takes getting used to and you really do need to push yourself to do the work at first but once you get the hang of it, it's not very hard. While it hasn't been around too long, I was not really worried about that since I can trust CUNY and that the degree will count in work and if I decide to go to Grad school and it did get accredited. The professors have been nurses for years and a lot have even worked at associate programs of nursing at CUNY schools. The semesters are about 12 weeks long, maybe a bit longer. Winter is about 3 weeks and summer is 6 weeks. The classes are generally, do a discussion board question and reply to your classmates. You'll also write papers and maybe have group work. The program takes as long as you do. A minimum is generally a year and a half though Ive hard but that is if you really load up on classes which isn't recommended. I took three classes the first semester and now I'm taking two to accommodate work. It is longer than other BSN schools, but it is also a lot cheaper.

Thank you for sharing! Im in the middle of my first semester now. I am trying to figure out which classes to take for the summer. HAve you heard anything from other students? Not sure if two over the 7 week summer session will be suicide. LOL
