Hey everyone! I'm planning on applying for CCP's nursing program starting Fall 2017. Is there anybody else who's also applying this year? And for those who applied already, how does their point system work when it comes to picking who gets accepted?

Hey Teddanson!

I am sending my application in at the end of the semester since I am a first time student. I placed in ENGL 101 and MATH 161. I have high school Chemistry and I took Bio 106 in the summer. I need 12 credits to apply and I will have them at the end of the semester. Have you submitted your application?

I am going to the Information session tomorrow to hopefully get in the Fall of 2017. I am transferring from Bucks County Community College to CCP. What class's do they look at in the transcripts? Because in 2010 i had a death in the family near the end of the semester and i had to take an emergency flight to Europe to attend and mourn for 40 days. The school did not help me in any way when i returned back in 2015 and refuse to remove the 3 F's i received from that semester since i had no time to notify them of my leaving the country. If those grades are overlooked and/or removed from my transcript (have a meeting with the provost), my GPA will be a 3.2ish with a C+ in A&P I and a C in Chemistry. Everything else like English Comp, Psychology, Philosophy and Humanities are B+'s and A's.

I went to an information session. They want B's or better in sciences. I have all C's so I decided not to apply. Also you must have at least a 2.75 GPA to apply. The program is very competitive and have many applicants so they choose by highest GPA first. Good luck!

When did you go? Because the program on their website says C or better. I'll find out for myself later today.

All Advance Placement Option applicants must complete the following courses, with a C or higher, by May 31 prior to the anticipated September transition course and January enrollment. Transfer credits must be posted on the student record by July 31.

I have just returned from the Information Session at CCP Nursing Program. I am glad that I DIDN'T listen to you LPN2RN18 because your information is COMPLETELY FALSE. Whether you purposely posted to deter applicants with C grade averages to not apply to help you somehow lessen the number applicants in your favor because of your mediocre grades, or maybe you are just so uninformed to the point that you do not care whether what you post is true or not. Either way, please do no post again unless the information that you have is 100% true and factual.

The CCP Nursing Program works by Cumulative GPA of 2.75 points plus the points you earn from your Kaplan Admission Test results which are based on a 9, 8, 7 and so on descending order system per seats available.

Kaplan Test Point Structure

79.5+ = 3 Points

74.5-79.4 = 2 Points

70-74.4 = 1 point

Now depending on which Student Type you fall under, you are put in Group A, B, C or D. Each having cumulative college GPA points, Kaplan Test points and Points gained for NOT receiving a grades of D's, F's or Withdraws.

Group A - Applicants with 12 or more Credits taken at CCP

GPA 3.5 and higher = 4 Points

GPA 3.0-3.49 = 3 points

GPA 2.75-2.99 = 2 points

Group B - High school seniors or have graduated within 12 months of application deadline

Upper 1/3 = 4 points

A Average = 4 points

B Average = 3 points

C Average = 2 points

Group C - Students transferring into CCP from another college with 12 credits or more

GPA 3.5 or higher = 4 Points

GPA 3.0-3.49 = 3 points

GPA 2.75-2.99 = 2 points

Group D - Students with prior Bachelors Degree or higher

GPA 3.5 or higher = 3 points

GPA 3.0-3.49 = 2 points

GPA 2.75-2.99 = 1 point

You also get points for NOT having grades of D, F and withdraws in the past 2 years.

0 Withdraw, F's or D's = 2 Points

1 Withdraw, F or D = 1 Point

2 or more Withdraws, F's or D's = 0 points

Example:

Group C: GPA 3.0 = 3 points

Kaplan Test 80 = 3

No prior F's, D's or W's = 2

3+3+2 = 8 points

Having 1 D, F or W, you subtract 1 point. If you have 2 or more D's F's or W's you subtract 2 points making your acceptance purely based on getting a high score on the Kaplan and coming in with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Translated into you having to have a 79.5 or higher Kaplan score and coming in with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

I hope this helps potential applicants. And a great word of advice, do not listen to people on these forums. Cause as you can see, if i listened to LPN2RN and didn't bother going, I would have missed out on these facts that actually do make it possible for me to get accepted into the program. Go in person and get the facts straight from the source.

I think what LPN2RN18 SHOULD have said was that you have to have a C or better in your sciences but if you have a B or better, it will make your GPA higher whichs makes you more competitive. The information that you posted HopefulRN2CRNA is 100% correct. I attended the information session on October 3rd. I'm super excited about applying but nervous about the Kaplan test. I have the book and have been studying in between my other studies throughout the whole semester. If you don't have the book, GET IT! It has a lot of helpful information, gives great explanations, comes with 2 full practice exams, and only costs $25 at CCP bookstore.

Has anybody sent in their app yet and received a letter back with the test date?

I ordered the book last night from Amazon. It was like $14. I am super nervous as well. Just waiting to finish my current semester to register my GPA, then i will be applying. I have noticed a lot of people after the Info session were asking questions that most of the time was answered with "no'. Meaning that a lot of students that are at these sessions might not even qualify to apply. Its all about the Kaplan Points. if you get 8 points, you should be good to go.

I'm praying for all A's at the end of the semester. That will leave me at 6 points. So I just have to focus on the test! I've been studying since the beginning of the semester. I am waiting for my final grades to post as well before I send in my app!
