Athabasca Post LPN RN program

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi there,

I know this topic has been brought up a number of times in other forums, and I have read through them, I am just interested to see if there are any current students out there or recent students that may be able to provide me with some more current information. Hopefully this is allowed...

I am currently an LPN in BC and have been interested in going back to complete my RN. I have explored many different options in BC, however I am starting to get very fed up with their system, and how difficult they make it for an LPN who wants to go back. I completed the two year program here in BC, the first graduating class of the two year program, and I have been met with nothing but resistance when attempting to go back. Vancouver Community College has a waiting list and is not even accepting applications until 2016 for a 2017 intake. The university of the fraser valley only has 8 seats available for post LPN. BCIT gives absolutely no credit to LPN graduates, etc.

If anyone has any input that would be greatly appreciated, good or bad. Even if you have just taken a course through Athabasca University. I am interested in exploring all options at this point. I just would like to expand my knowledge and pretty much I feel like I'm begging for someone, anyone, to teach me!
