  1. I also just enrolled! How was your first year!?
  2. Just went to a BBQ on the weekend and of course in meeting new people it came up what we do for a living. One of them, a paramedic, said oh a nurse? LPN or RN? I stated LPN, and from the end of the table someone piped up "loser practicing nurse!" Sigh...it honestly never ends.
  3. I have to agree with LPN to Rns post in that often I feel the lpns in my facility take on the exact same roles as the rn, and then some, and are paid a fraction of the wage. I too am hoping to go back to school this year to complete my degree, however not just for the wage increases (not going to complain of course...) however obtaining this degree opens so many more doors and opportunities for my future. As much as I love being an LPN and strongly believe in their roles, I do feel it can be very restrictive, depending on your personal preference.
  4. I work in Northern bc, starting wage is 24.70 for acute care and 25.80 for ltc
  5. I am also interested in this! Any help would be appreciated
  6. Hi there, I know this topic has been brought up a number of times in other forums, and I have read through them, I am just interested to see if there are any current students out there or recent students that may be able to provide me with some more current information. Hopefully this is allowed... I am currently an LPN in BC and have been interested in going back to complete my RN. I have explored many different options in BC, however I am starting to get very fed up with their system, and how difficult they make it for an LPN who wants to go back. I completed the two year program here in BC, the first graduating class of the two year program, and I have been met with nothing but resistance when attempting to go back. Vancouver Community College has a waiting list and is not even accepting applications until 2016 for a 2017 intake. The university of the fraser valley only has 8 seats available for post LPN. BCIT gives absolutely no credit to LPN graduates, etc. If anyone has any input that would be greatly appreciated, good or bad. Even if you have just taken a course through Athabasca University. I am interested in exploring all options at this point. I just would like to expand my knowledge and pretty much I feel like I'm begging for someone, anyone, to teach me!
  7. 1) Yes (as stated above) 2) You will need to take extra courses for certain areas, or gain practicum experience.
  8. I applied this year however I unfortunately need to upgrade a bunch of pre reqs including a&p. Did you end up applying?
