Anyone attending Georgetown's Online NP program?

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I'm nearing the end of my application process; one more letter of recommendation, and my file will be complete. I've been accepted to two other programs, but I really want to attend Georgetown's online NP program.

While I'm hoping for academic rigor, I'm a bit nervous that I'll be jumping into an extremely demanding program where I'll constantly overwhelmed.

How does the rigor of this program compare to undergrad nursing school? To other grad programs? How many hours do typical students spend studying each week? Any idea what the attrition rate is for the online program? (Georgetown doesn't have those numbers as the program is too new; but students will know if 15 people started in their cohort and six months later there are only 9 remaining!)

Madalena2,

Was that two weeks from the time all of your stuff was in? I know that my advisor said that once all of our requirements are in (resume, statement and video) that our part was complete and they werent too concerned about letters of recommendations coming in after the deadline. Was this the case for you?

Hi all. So it has been almost 2 weeks since my app was submitted and I am a ball of nerves! I want this so bad! Anyone else waiting? I am hoping and praying for June 2012 start. Anyone been accepted? How did you get the acceptance notification... email or snail-mail? How long did it take? Thanks in advance for your responses. :nurse:

Tadahh 99,

I am waiting too to hear if I was accepted for the June start date. I spoke with my admissions advisor today who said it may be a week or two because it is close to the deadline. Good luck!

thanks for your reply bvwatts04... I can't beleive how anxious I am waiting.... I feel like I am back in highschool again waiting to get into college for the first time. Will keep my fingers crossed for you as well. ;) Let me know if ya hear anything.

Patti,

now that you've been in the program for a little while how do you like it? Has it lived up to your expectations? Is there any thing you regret? Was it difficult to fund? Did you get much by way of loans? Thanks.

have you gotten a reply?

tadahh99 did you hear anything yet?

bvwatts - No ... I got the letter via email today. Really disappointed and upset.

I am so sorry to hear that! I have yet to hear anything and as the days go by I get more and more nervous. Did you apply to any other schools?

Yes a local one that I actually really do not want to go to.... they seem very disorganized. I am looking for others .... what I really need is something online that hs a good set up as I work on call for 7 days and then off for seven days.... makes going to a campus for classes a bit tricky. I really want to get rolling with this so I am mighty frustrated right now. I suppose ther is a reason for everything though so maybe there is something even better on the horizon. Crossing fingers an hoping I will find something that works. I cant afford to take time off for classes as my hubby has been off work for several years and goodness knows if he will ever be able to find something that is decent and works with my schedule as well. Will keep my fingers crossed for you as well. Did you apply anywhere else?

I applied to a local university however I didnt get in to it. I think the SBU program would work for you. From what I read it is online and self paced. How long have you been an RN? Sometimes schools look deeper into that experience then they say they do. I am also applying to Frontier just in case I dont get into Georgetown.

What is SBU? I have been a nurse since 06. I also suppose that having spent half of those years in a specialty area may have bruised my chances a bit. Feeling a bit more upbeat today... seems it took a couple days to really snap into my head and I had to get over the shock. I am better now and now I have been scoping out other programs.
