Has anyone attended this University or have any information on it? I am looking for a DNP program that has a nurse educator focus! I am working on my MSN in Nursing Education and currently work as a faculty member at a 4 year University. I plan to always stay in this field, but do not have any interest in a PhD program. It is the only DNP that focuses in Nursing Education that I could find.

Their website says they are accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC) as well as accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

While they BSN and MSN programs are CCNE accredited, their DNP program is not because they state that CCNE only recognizes leadership and clinical DNPs, not education track DNPs.

Thoughts? I want to make sure I am attended a great school! I was unable to find any solid information on this program on this forum. The previous posts did not have any real responses. Since they were 2+ years old, I was hoping someone might have some insight at this point! Thank you!

American Sentinel University does not have institutional regional accreditation, which was more than enough to prompt me to abandon the idea of ever attending. However, all of their nursing programs are nationally accredited.

What does that mean outside of transferability? My MSN will be from a CCNE and regionally accredited school so I would presume that would allow me to attend any school in the country for additional education from an accreditation status, correct?

I attended ASU and just received my BSN in November of 2014. I believe it is like any other online program in that you have great instructors and not so great instructors. I have spoken with friends who attended a private university online program and it is basically the same thing. I know they are not regionally accredited, which can be a problem as some employers will not recognize a degree from a university that is not regionally accredited and neither will other universities if you want to transfer credits. The advisors have been great to work with and they generally get back to you with questions/problems rather quickly. Not sure if this helps at all.
