Top Paying Hospital In the OKC Area?

U.S.A. Oklahoma

Published

Just wondering if anyone here knew on average who the top paying hospital is in the Oklahoma City area? And if you have any idea what a 2 to 4 year RN would be getting.

Thanks

After my clinical rotation last semester, I was told that Kindred Healthcare System pays the most in the OKC area...I was told by an actual employee, so that's a given...
Kindred also has a shady reputation in many communities.

@TheCommuter...I figured Kindred would have a bad rep...Most of my clinical group, including me, wrote on the survey sheet that we wouldn't work there after graduation...So, I understand 100%, but she did ask what was the highest paying hospital in OKC...:lol2:

u can always take crappy pay for a year and then do per diem or float pool at your local hospital. I agree Kindred does pay well, but has a crappy reputation. I can't imagine a nurse with 15 years of ICU experience getting paid $21. That's ridiculous. I heard Select Speciality and Midwest Speciality hospitals pay well, but they work you to death.

If I didn't have kids, I probably would do that. I personally will not put my kids in daycare all day day to take home a small amount of money. I would rather scrape by on my hubby's pay alone. I am interviewing today for a position at Edmond Medical Center (part of OU) I wonder if they pay the same....

I agree with all of your comments, but we need to encourage others to pursue their BSN or higher. Why you might say? Because of the IOM report "the future of nursing". We need to elevate the profession of nursing by increasing our education and knowledge. We are at the front lines and have the largest FTEE in the Hospital but we are the ones with the least amount of education. We need to take information from the bedside to the boardroom to make a difference for our patients and ourselves. Or let other disciplines (physicians) make decisions for us.

I don't want that to happen; do you?

I was offered the job and after careful consideration I did accept. The pay was not nearly what I was hoping for, but it's a very friendly staff, a cool new opportunity for me, and very family friendly hours. I am excited and nervous because I have only ever been an L&D nurse.
