Good nursing schools near Tulsa, Oklahoma

U.S.A. Oklahoma

Published

I am a sophomore in college and I am looking for a good nursing school to apply to preferably in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I was wondering if anyone knew of any. I am planning on moving to Oklahoma this summer. I am currently living in Missouri. Any info would be a great help. Thanks so much. Also, if anyone has any info on becoming a Nurse anesthetist that would also be of some help.

I moved your post to the OK Forum so that you get the best responses. Good luck to you!

The University of Oklahoma Tulsa campus has a traditional 2-year BSN program. http://nursing.ouhsc.edu/tulsa.htm. Tulsa Community College has a ADN program http://www.tulsacc.edu/page.asp?durki=58.

Hope that helps:)

Hey MEGS... Thought I would add to your post.

Two public universities are...

Tulsa Community College (TCC)

University of Oklahoma (OU- Tulsa)

Two private universities are...

Oral Roberts University (ORU)

University of Tulsa (TU)

There is also a nursing school in the city of Claremore which is about 20-30 minutes from Tulsa called Rogers State University. Of course, I recommend it because that's where I am going!

I've heard good and bad about all of the above. I have heard (and even read on allnurses.com) more negativity about Platt and TCC than any of the others. Everyone has their own opinion, ya know?

Well, good luck on your future endeavors :-)

I miss Tulsa!(Lived there for 5 years) Most of my friends went there to attend ORU. :)

If you want a solid Christian education along with nursing ORU is an awesome choice.

TCC is good if you would like to take your time due to familial responsibilities or whatever other reason there may be. Plus they offer an inexpensive route to schooling.

TU is more downtown and gives an urban feeling. Not to mention, the campus is beautiful.

I am an RN student in WI and most of the institutions are private (around Milwaukee). So, I am at MATC for the first two years and them I will continue at a university that offers an RN to MSN progression track.

Happy nursing!

Don't forget there is also a BSN program @ Langston University in Tulsa.

FYI. OU is a private school. Langston is supposed to be real good and the pass rate for nclex is good as well

?Huh? No, OU/University of Oklahoma is a public school. Anyhow, Langston (also a public university) would be another good option to add to the list Whitter posted and their NCLEX pass rate was 91.1% in 2006, which was a significant improvement over the previous year. I've heard good and bad about their program but I've heard good and bad about almost every program in the state... ;) And so it's probably all true to a certain extent - every program has strengths, weaknesses, pros, cons, etc.

Okay, somehow I posted that before I was done...

Since you first posted 2 months ago you may already have all of this figured out but you'll probably want to apply to several programs since admission is fairly competitive. And since you're already a sophomore and have plans to pursue an advanced practice degree, then TCC or any ADN programs would not be the optimal route for you to take so apply to the universities to get your BSN. Good luck and welcome to Oklahoma - hopefully it won't be miserably hot by the time you move here!
