Questions re: OU Rn-Bsn online nursing classes

Nursing Students Ohio University

Hello all! This is my first time posting but I've been reading previous posts and have gathered a lot of information re: the classes I'll be taking in the very near future. I am wondering if anyone has taken NRSE 4540 (Community Health) and NRSE 4550 (Evidenced-Based Practice) ... especially if you've taken them at the same time!! Due to scheduling I have to take them both during the same 5 week period in Jan 2014. I'm worried about the work load. I'm currently taking Family Nursing (4530)...it seems a little confusing so far, but it's the first week. I've only taken 4510 and 4570 (Diversity) so far. Any help regarding their workloads would be helpful! Thanks! Also, please let me know if I am not doing this right... I think this could be a very helpful tool as I go through this.

I personally feel these two would be the worst combination if taken together. I remember Community Health needed a lot of work and EBP assignments and quizzes were not easy. Try to split them and take with a easier one such as Gerontology, or electives.

I agree, I wouldn't take them together. Unless your work schedule permits you to put in 25 hours or more a week on school, I wouldn't do it. But I've never take 2 together, so what do I know....

I took them together because that was the only way I could get all of the courses in to graduate at the end of the summer. It was a very heavy load. Had I not had a lot of background in clinical research, I would have struggled with EBP. Community is a lot of busy work. Both classes are 4 credits so plan on doing 8 credits worth of work in 5 weeks. I took these courses together right before I took my last nursing course so I had a pretty good idea what I was getting myself into. Can it be done? Sure. Can you get As in both classes? Yes. But plan on having NO life for 5 weeks! I work full time and have a family but it was a rough 5 weeks.
