Where I work now, I get 100% free tuition, making my MSN free (assuming they hire me as a RN). However, I really want to attend Case Western for my MSN (better rankings, subspecialty in the area I want). It's REALLY expensive. I know UH and Cleveland Clinic offer tuition reimbursement of some form, but no details are given on the website. Anyone know the amount and stipulations?

foreverLaur... you are awesome! You have come so far.. I read your post from 2010 today regarding A2 testing to get into Tri-C and you mentioned that you weren't interested in getting your BSN. From reading your post I was hoping that you would continue to BSN.. And I now see (a few post later) that you are! I don't know you, but I am so happy for you!!

I am so glad that you also continued to post on here thoughout your pursuit in nursing.

TS2012 - I still have no desire to get my BSN, but if I go to grad school anywhere but OSU I will be forced to. OSU allows me to directly enter into their MSN program with an ADN + non-nursing bachelors so a BSN is unnecessary. Why spend 1 year doing the RN-BSN + 2 years with the MSN when I could just do the 2 year MSN? :) I am, however, going to apply to the RN-BSN program here at OSU to make me more competitive with the application process. Most hospitals here require a BSN within 5 years and I'll be well into a MSN program by then so hopefully it won't matter but we shall see. If I get hired at OSU they will pay 100% of it so if they want me to, I'll do it to get hired!! Also, thank you for your words of encouragement :)

ShantheRN - apparently your Google skills are better than mine! I couldn't find that!! I also called HR and they couldn't give me any specific numbers either. So thank you.

Keep in mind, that most places I have worked at allow you to take advantage of the tuition benefit right away-CC make you wait a year before you are able to pay for tuition. :(

It says you can start using it after your new hire people. I figured that was 90 days - not a year! Wow...

Maybe it will be wise to just stay at OSU and get free tuition (which starts right away).

Your best bet is to talk to a CC nurse recruiter.

Had I known that, I would have gone to OSU instead Case. Ranking means very little (to nothing) after your first job experience when seeking a new position. Would I trade my Case NP degree and $60,000 student debt for an OSU NP and no debt- in a micro-second!

For a Master's degree $7500 reimbursement for full-time employees only; part-time employees are eligible for $3750. You can work with your manager to apply for an exception to waive the one-year waiting period of employment before you are eligible for education reimbursement benefits. You have to continue working for CC for 12 months after each reimbursement you receive unless you want to pay them back.

Can you cite the name of the waiver document? My manager spoke to HR about a waiver of this type- they said they were not aware of it. Perhaps ignorance is bliss and a good way to avoid a $7500 expence.

$7500 won't begin to cover my Case tuition for the year, but it would put a dent in it.
