Tri-C Nursing Program-Starting in Fall 2011

U.S.A. Ohio

Published

Hi All,

I was looking for fellow students that will be starting the nursing program in the Fall of 2011. I am excited :yeah:about starting and just looking for others who I might be in class with. If anyone has any information on what the process is like before hand, please let me know.

Thanks in advance :D

Did they cancel South Pointe I wonder? That is the closest one to me but either way, I have to go wherever is available.

Thanks a lot for the tips, Mel. I hope you can keep us updated on how things go once you start the program. Would you by any chance know where the clinical sites are?

Yes, I will keep you updated as I go through the process. That way you will have a head start when it's your turn :)

It was only canceled because of some union BS with the clinical instructor at that site having too many hours or something like that. It was Lutheran Hospital that was canceled, but only for the current semester. Just FYI Apparently the grids for the new students will be posted in late april with your registration window opening in early June. The "Registration Letter" is posted for you guys on the Group site. Whether or not you have access to it yet I do not know.

It should be Southpointe where it says Cleveland Clinic.

Ok, thanks for info ScottE! No, I can't get onto the group site as of yet! Heidi said she would add me in April, I believe.

Thanks Mel & Scott...now I'm not too sure about the metro program because a few of those clinical sites are a bit of a distance lol. I think I might have to stick with the eastern program..I'll have to see.

Quick question, Scott. How long are the clinicals, and how many days per week? Thanks!

1450 Clinicals are Tuesdays and Wednesdays. From 630/700am (630am if you do preassignment the day of clinical, 700am if you do it the day before this varies by clinical site) to 130PM Some sites will get out early some sites get out late. You won't have clinical the first week, the second week on either Tuesday or Wednesday you will have what they call "Bed, Bath, and Beyond" day where you'll meet your clinical instructor and practice basic care stuff, washing hands, Personal protective equipment, bed baths, bed pan ect. The third week you will actually go to the hospital depending on the site the first day is an orientation to the hospital day, the second day is either an orientation to the charting system, or your first day on the floor this varies based on clinical site.

I can't wait to start the program! I feel like I waited forever. I admit I am a little nervous too. When are we supposed to get the information on everything we need to do before August? Can you please let me know if any of you have received anything? I haven't heard anything from the nursing dept. since they asked if I wanted to change to the East Campus. I didn't want to change though. I was hoping they would open up a Fall 2011 at the West shore campus. West shore is very nice!

Hi DramaQueen,

They haven't sent out any additional info since asking if people wanted to transfer. We should be getting an email in April. Which campus are you going to and will you be day or evening?

Thanks for the info Scott!

Thanks for the info Scott!

Keep in mind that only applies to the "Generic Days" program, although accelerated may be different. Evening/Weekends is a whole different animal that I don't know anything about.

I am on days, at Metro. Thank you for keeping me updated MelMel.
