I am a nursing student from Texas and I want to move to Cincinnati with family after I graduate. Can anyone tell me about the good vs the bad parts of the city? Which hospitals are good?

Welcome to allnurses and to Cincinnati! I think you will love Cincinnati, it is a very livable city. There are MANY great hospitals here. The only hospital I reccomend that you steer clear of is any of the Mercy Hospitals. I have worked there and my mom currently works there. I have never experienced or heard anything positive about these facilities. Even my fellow nursing students who went there for clincials disliked it. Here are some of the area hospitals

Central/UC area:

Deaconess

University (UC)

Good Samaritan

Christ

Childrens

Holmes

Shriners Burn

Northern:

Jewish

Bethesda North

Mercy Fransican

Fort Hamilton Hosp

West:

Mercy Western Hills

East:

Mercy Anderson

NKY (5 mins from downtown Cincy)

St. Luke East

St.Luke West

St. Elizabeth (awesome awesome reputation)

St. Elizabeth South

I wouldnt recc. living downtown. Living in Clifton (UC area) is mostly students but certain areas can be a bit scary.

Most of the eastern suburbs (all suburbs regardless of which direction can usually be reached in 15-20mins from UC area) are nice. Hyde Park/Oakley are very nice areas. Also Kenwood, Mariemont, Indian Hill, the northern side are very nice. In NKY, Ft Mitchell, Park HIlls, Erlanger, very nice as well...there are lots more great areas but those should get you started. Why do you dislike the Mercy system? I am considering an RN position there and wanted your opinon. What do you know about Fairfield??
