Anyone from Ohio know about capital University Accelerated BSN??

I know it is longer than most, but Capital has an okay reputation in the city. I've seen a lot more grads from OSU, Otterbein, and CSCC though.

It is really expensive but I heard there is no waiting to start. I guess if you have money, anything is possible.

I would be coming from out of state and am a 22 year old recent university grad. Know where a good place to live would be? My other choice is a 12 month program in Florida, which seems too rushed? Thanks

12 months is pretty quick. There is an 11 month program at Dexel in Philly. Mt Carmel in Columbus, OH has a 13 month program. OSU has a 3 yr BSN/MSN program. Personally, I am going to a local community college because I can save a ton of money on tuition, be able to work full time to support myself, and still end up as a RN... and my future employer will pay for me to get my BSN! I already have a BA.

Do you think Capital has a decent reputation and is up on the latest techniques etc? I am from California and here the waitlists are years! This would be a big move, but I wanted to get a BSN. My current boyfriend will be in Clevland so I found this. Just not sure if I will like it, how good it is ( no one here heard of it..ha), and apparantly there are not that many students my age ( many are career changing)? So worried about meeting friends. Any other thoughts on the place?? Thanks for your help.

Why not go to Cleveland State University? Closer to your boyfriend, amazing hospitals, lower tuition, and shorter program.

Does sound better but i didn't have a pre-rec they required and wanted to start this Fall. So this is my only Ohio option. You are not making it sound very good, so maybe I will reconsider. I do want an honest opinion, and choosing something far away without visitng first, is a bit unsettling. Let me know if you have any other thoughts or info about Capital. Thanks again for your time.

Capital is a very well respected private university in Columbus. I don't know much about their nursing program, but their law school and their college of music and many other programs are well known in Ohio and grads in those programs come out well prepared.

If you are dead set on starting this fall, Capital sounds like your best bet. I've worked as a PCA with some of their grads and they were all great nurses. Have you looked at Mt Carmel? Their ABSN is only 13 months, but requires my prerequisites. Might not hurt to wait a few more months to start there since the program is 7 months quicker...

I would agree, Capital has a great reputation, but I'll be honest- I didn't know they had an ABSN! :coollook: I've grown up around here and just basically knew them as a regular private university, that had a specialized reputation in Law! But I would say if you want to, have the $, and can start right away, good for you! I would guess/assume it's a good nursing program they are really a well run university [iMHO] as I've met many grads from other departments that have been happy with their experiences. Thanks for the input. Anyone have suggestions of apartments or areas where people my age ( 22) or students would live? The program attracts many career changers that may be older than I am, so I would want a place where I could hopefully meet some people my age for friends. Thanks again
