Wow that sucks. Hopefully there will still be seats available for the spring by the time they review my file.

So, I got my review back from the nursing program and they informed me that I cannot apply to the program because I do not have a high school transcript on file with the school. I do not understand the need for that when I have a college degree! Plus I graduated from high school 8 years ago and my high school is closed! Why can't they accept a college degree transcript?

I had the same issue with the high school dimploma. I was told that it is indeed a strict requirement for students entering generic, but not the accelerated, nursing program to have high school diploma on file with the nursing department. It doesn't matter if you've achieved higher educational degree, although I used the same reasoning: I also have another degree. For me it was an international high school diploma that has to be resubmitted, translated and evaluated. To tell you the truth, I was so mad because they let me know about this problem the very last moment, it was never mentioned in the reply to my request to be reviewed. In the end, I lost one month of my precious time and didn't make it in this Fall semester, instead I start in the Spring 2014. I hope you'll solve this issue sooner rather than later. Also, I found admissions and enrollment ladies at Western campus to be more cooperative and helpful, way more than nursing dept or anybody else.

I just do not understand why they would need a high school transcript for someone who has graduated from college. In order to get into college a person has to have a GED or HS Diploma. I just don't understand the reasoning. It took a month for them to review my file and now I have to wait for my aunt to try to retrieve my high school transcript from my old high school 800 miles away.

I am really hoping they bypass this some kind of way but my hopes for a spring 2014 start is in the dumps.

Grr...

I will definitely try to talk to someone from the Western campus. I hope they can help me.

Can't you go back to the college where you received your degree and ask them for your high school transcript? I would imagine they still had that in their records...

So I'm scheduled for the A2 exam next week. Anyone have any tips for the exam?

It would be greatly appreciated.

As for me I realized I was overstressed about it. I would say take a good night sleep, don't stay up late studying. I found that the most they tested were my patience and concentration for a long period of time. It wasn't difficult at all it was just so tedious... I say, take care of the most difficult sections first, this way you have more energy and fresh mind for the most difficult sections. For me it was reading comprehension. The math portion was easier for me so I did it last: I had few conversions - millitary time to standard, few problems, etc whatever was in that Evolve book. For reading comprehension, someone gave me a tip on how to tackle those problems and it worked for me: do not read the whole passage, I repeat, do not, unless it is absolutely necessary. Instead, read the question it asks you and find your answer in the passage. You'll save yourself a lot of time. One more, I found it helpful to take a 10 min brake, you're allowed to do that, just to refresh yourself, go to the bathroom, do whatever, let your eyes rest. Good luck on your test and don't stress over it.

Thank you for the advice! I have been stressing over this test. That's good to know. I've heard it's just math and reading comprehension. Is that basically all the test is??

Any science or anatomy on it? The prep guide has science portions in it that's why I ask.

TomTom24 you'll be fine. I remember there were 4 sections we had to pass: 1 math, and 3 English ones. The Engilsh sections were: reading comprehension, grammar We are not responsible for any of the science sections for the tri-c program. I knew people who have been tested on all the sections just because they were applying to other schools as well.

Dear Bubbly 26,

You have met the qualifications to take the Elsevier Admission Assessment Test (A2) for the Generic Track of the Nursing Program . The A2 is a timed exam which evaluates math, English language, basic science skills(the science portion is not required for admission to our Nursing program) as well as learning styles.

Yay. I'm finally eligible to take the A2. Any tips for the exam?
