Would you assist in abortions? - page 5

I am just curious. Would you ever work in an abortion clinic? Would you give pills that would cause an abortion? Thanks... Read More

Yes I would. I can't help but think that the only thing worse than an aborted fetus is an unwanted child. If adoption is an option I would prefere it.

Wow. I have been thinking about this issue for a long time. I think women have a right to choose, but NOT abuse, abortion. Unfortunately, I do know some women who use abortions as a means of birth control. :crying:

I would NOT have a problem taking care of a woman who has had an abortion. Everyone deserves kind, cosiderate care, right? As for assisting, well, I just don't know if I could. I just don't know. That's the best that I can say for it.

    Assist in abortions? NO

Care for the patient after? YES

I think that's an important thing (providing non-judgemental care after a woman has had an abortion). I mean, really any of your patients could have had an abortion at some time, so as long as no one starts with the "baby killer" stuff, I think they can still provide good care to women.

Same here. I could not/would not assist in abortion. Take care of the patient afterwards? Yes

If it were to save her life, probably. I'd have to think about the other options. I never say never until I'm in that situation.

Wow, I thought my initial answer would be yes, but after all the reading of the posts I just did, now my answer is I don't know. Yikes! Partial births- No way! Repeat customers- I think I would lose it! Otherwise, I think sometimes it is a really good option for some, so I'm glad there is the choice, just wish there could be a better way of regulating it, but will probably be too complicated. Very sad.....

I couldn't help with the actual abortion, but I could help care for the woman afterward.

I would never assist in abortion - by any means.

Michelle, you are allowed to refuse to participate in procedures that you believe are immoral. They will get someone else to do it. The important thing is to be upfront about it (don't apply to work in an abortion clinic and then say you won't participate in them, kwim?). I refuse to participate in circumcisions and it has never been a problem. Several nurses where i work will not participate in blood transfusions.

We decided NOT to have our five sons circumcised.
