I am just curious. Would you ever work in an abortion clinic? Would you give pills that would cause an abortion? Thanks... Read More

I have read this thread every day since it began. With much trepidation, I've decided to reply. I have created a new user name under which to reply, not because I am ashamed, but because I've been harassed by anti-choice people, picketed at my home, and threatened. I've no desire for this place to become scary for me, because I love this board.

I worked in an abortion clinic for almost ten years. I loved working there, it was one of the best jobs I ever had. Why? Well, not only did I work with an AMAZING group of people, I got to feel every day like I was helping women and their partners through a very difficult time in their lives. Were there some women who regretted their choice? Yes. Were there others who had had several abortions? Yes. Does that make anyone's choice less valid? No.

I don't want anyone who doesn't believe in abortion to have one. But I also don't want the choice taken away from the rest of us because of a small minority of anti-choice folks. And btw, I've counseled several of the daughters of our regular picketers, as they chose to have an abortion. Tell me that isn't hypocrisy?
It is a sad irony that you need to be anonymous having helped so many through what was such a difficult time in their lives.

I have avoided this thread for awhile but I have finally decided to post my opinion. After I learned how an abortion is performed and heard about an abortion gone horribly wrong (i will spare everyone the details) I could never perform or have an abortion. I finally see what the pro-life people are talking about

Peg, you already know how I feel about that. I don't confuse appearance with the reality as far as a 16 week old fetus/baby. I don't care if pro-lifers want to show accurate pictures of abortion. (The key being accurate). The only thing I don't like about some pro-lifers is the yelling and condemnation and extremism. Fortunately, I think most pro-lifers are able to express themselves respectfully and accept that not everyone feels the same as they do.

I believe abortion should be a lottery. Everyone envolved should be represented by a marble. All the marbles in a jar. Jar shaken. Doctor blindfolded pulls out marble. Whoevers marble it is gets the ax!!! Baby should have a fighting chance!
Pro choice(death) before conception Pro life after.
I understand all views I believe. I've been raped. Yes I would have kept the baby.
I've been molested Yes I would have kept the baby. I am a young mother.
With my last child My husband wanted me to have an abortion. He set up the appt. When it was time to go I told him go ahead you can abort your part but I'm staying home! I have been single ever since. Lord knows all.

I'm sorry for the misspelled words. I've had a long weedend with a very sick little girl three days almost no sleep. She is getting better.

In, other words, you think that killing women who want abortions would prevent abortion, thus, preserving life.

    Brilliant!

Sorry it was only a joke. I do however think the child should be given a chance to live.
I use this joke to express my view. Everyone needs someone on their side.
    Every life is precious.
And in the joke it is not only the mother in the jar but also Doctor, nurse, boyfriend, everyone in the building. Its just a joke.
I feel for every woman, man, and child faced with the decision of abortion.

If women had the "right" to receive abortions, doctors would have to provide them free to any woman, at any time, for any reason. How many nurses would be willing to get out of bed at 3:00 in the morning because some pregnant women rings their doorbell and want a free abortion? The nurse would have to do it, if women have the "right" to receive abortions.

    .
Um, I do. If I'm on call and they call my home, I get up at 3am, kiss my kids and drive in to assist in a D and C, or a D and E. They call, I answer. There are plenty of nurses who are willing to get out of bed to help.
