What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

The name itself is not so very weird, but the reason for it is strange. One of my roommates when I had my son named her daughter either Chablis or Chardonnay; someone questioned her was it for the wine? Her response was no, it was after one of Kathy Lee Gifford's dogs.

Great, now I'm going to have "Oh my darlin', oh my darlin', oh my darlin' Clementine" going through my head all day! ;)

No funny names fromt he nursing field yet, but from the daycare field? there are som weird ones!

We have a kid named aden (a-den) because his parents didnt know how to spell it, because they only named him right before leaving the hospital.

Also had an Aliric supposedly it meant like god or something or king , that kid was more like king of his house....

We had a server at ihop the other day whose name was candida (maybe not the best name to have when in the food industry?)

had a share of Nevaehs (heaven spelled backwords), we had a sunny, a kid whose name was tristan, but intials spelled TNT...Flonette, burgundy, deux, I went to school with a chick named verushcha, a alittle girl named azjanea.

At one point in my class we had little girls named mikayla, kylie, kayliegh, kaitilin, kira and kyra! Now try saying that three times fast

As we and the parents of those kids may find those names funny, I think those parents won't know the embarrassment those children will feel when they grow up and know the meaning of their names (I agree some are nice but the others, oh boy!). Thank God my parents gave me and my siblings normal names. I understand the need of those parents for something out of the ordinary but please leave those names for your pets! Seriously, poor kids... just my :twocents:

I met a woman while on travel in 2007 that was pregnant with her first daughter. Her husband was super excited and wanted to name the girl Harleigh Not too bad ....HOWEVER, the poor child's middle name is Quinn. Both names are nice by themselves but together.. I don't think so.

my pt. named her baby A-a ( meaning adasha) but she decided to spell it with two A's and a dash in between. text messaging abbreviations are being brought alive!!!

That's the name of the Joker's sidekick :D Well, I think it was Harley Quinn, but same idea... Maybe he was just a big Batman fan!

that picture was taken at the breeder's front door. our mannie is the third puppy from the right. the litter was about 9 weeks old in the picture. his registered name is l-o-n-g and "man" is part of it.

Ooh I have one to add! Not at our hospital but close by: a baby girl named Leeloo. I'm assuming that it's after the character in The Fifth Element. :o
