Did anyone else watch TLCs labor and delivery day special? It was great. Every time I turned on the tv babies were being born. I've been on vacation so I'm having birthing withdrawl.

We were watching it @ work. Very interesting, from an O MY GOD!, LOOK WHAT THEY'RE DOING NOW perspective.

My favorite was the one where the father was running all over town trying to buy the sutures for the ?MDs to use at the same time that they were actually DOING the C-Section in question. And the resuscitation of the infant born from that C-Section. Now, THAT was scary!!

Some Middle Eastern Islamic country, might have been Afghanistan, not sure.

The 'resus', if it can be called that, was horrific, but the baby apparently lived? Spec ed candidate?

I saw that episode! It was like watching an action film because of hoping that dad would get the sutures in time. I think this was in the same episode, but there was a skit of birthing centers in Japan. Very high-tech, almost to the point of cheesy IMO. Neat, but those images of dolphins and the lights that changed colors would just get on my nerves at 8 cm dilated.

How about the one in Ethiopia where they just left the baby in the hall-way and the mom's where laying on beds without mattresses only springs. And in India where the babies where delivered into what looked like a roasting pan. And the family had to take blood to the blood bank across town???

Scary, Scary!!

We are damn lucky aren't we?

I really see how lucky when seeing shows like world birth day. It's very eye-opening how harsh conditions are around the world.

What about that part where they are giving mouth to mouth to an infant and just using a piece of, what looks to be, cheesecloth as protection. I got a shock out of that.

I thought they were gonna blow the poor kids lungs!
