hi everyone, i haven't been here awhile. working two jobs while attempting to get accustomed to the newest one...the commute rocks by the way.....i digress...this is sort of personal but i figure come to the people who may and usually do know....other day i noticed it stung when i voided...discovered a hard nodule on one side of my vulva which seems to be embedded ( like those reporters overseas lol) and tender...researching has led me to discover it could be any one of a thousand things, mostly requiring biopsy just to find out and i have an appointment to be seen monday. my question is if any of you have had similar symptomology and if so, if you would be kind enough to share with me some of your experiences, discoveries, frustrations over being told "it's nothing" when it turned out to be something , etc...i don't have any dismal feelings or anything, but given the way some women are approached gynecologically these days, without much seriousness, i am really very curious about other's experiences with this topic, especially as it is a personal first for me....the nodule is about .5 to 1 cm, oval with a bit of a depressed center under the skin. no skin color change, and tender, although that seems to be due to the space it occupies...nothing like getting up close and personal......any advice or info beyond what i have already mentioned, would be gratefully appreciated. will keep you updated....thanks a bunch!

Where exactly is it located??? Could it be a Bartholins cyst??? I don't think those are painful though, I can't remember. What about just a clogged pore? I get those occasionally, and they will itch a little and are slightly tender. They are also soft and it seems oval shaped, with either no color change or slight reddened area. I have never had them checked by a gyn though, so that's just what I assume they are.

What about that other gland there, not the bartholins, but the other???

ANd I remember taking care of an elderly patient one time (no not calling you old, lol :D ) who I had the doc get a gyn consult for, and he thought it was a bartholins cyst, and tried to put a temporary drain into it, only to discover that it was just a sebbacous type cyst. It didn't really seem to be causing the lady trouble, I just happened to notice it during foley care. So he just left it. It was probably 1-2 cm, fairly round, and soft, but more moveable.

I am hoping for your sake that your lesions aren't herpes. I have never actually seen them, but don't they have somewhat of an indented area in the middle of the lesion?

Good luck! I know it is a totally personal thing, but I would really be interested to know what you find out!

I AM old! Lol...I think it is probably a Bartholins cyst...Ahem, it is on one side not too far from down below as it were...Doesn't look or resemble any herpetic leison or STD chancre I have ever seen or learned about, and believe me, I have quizzed my husband about former experiences...no itching but it is sore and hey, I'm a nurse...Whats too personal to talk about? ( Never mind, I think this nearly qualifies)....As I said, I don't have the idea that it is anything horrible, just curious and annoying...Seems to have receded a little, not unlike my hairline and gums...Lol

What? Sounds exotic or errotic.....

It could be an ingrown hair......

Could be a cyst, cartilege, wart. Be safe and see your GYN. Good luck!

Go to your gyn, please, and get it checked out. Likely, it is benign and I am sure you want to know for sure. Best wishes!

Going tomorrow...Not worried. Feels like a cyst, not a wart or any such animal...Thanks everyone....

warm, moist compresses....frequently tonight!

if it is just an ingrown hair or pimple, will bring the cyst to a 'head',

easier for GYN to drain tomorrow!

Well, when I think of the personal questions I frequently ask patients, and what I eventually end up learning about them, it seems to me the fact that everyone reading this knows I have some sort of bump in my private parts, ought not to concern me...Talk about up close and personal! :)

had bumps and lumps myself before....

life of being a woman is not all Victoria's Secret! LOL!
