those of you who have already become certified, what educational materials did you find essential? there are so many resources out there and it is very confusing. i am interested in a self paced study, not seminar based learning. i have found this book that appears to be what i might need: http://http://www.awhonn.org/awhonn/?pa=ecommerce&sa=viewproductdetail&catalogid=1&productcategory=book&productcode=wccmn3

any feedback is greatly appreciated.

This book worked out well for several of the people where I am (for RN,C in Inpatient Obstetrics):

Manual of Obstetrics, 6th Edition (LWW Spiral Manuals)

Niswander, Evans, Arthur T. Evans (Editor)

*It's spiral-bound and very packed with information and all who used it PASSED!*

PS you link did not work for me.

Good luck!

Out of curiosity, I tried the link and it didn't work for me either. Do you have another one or a corrected version?

Thanks, and best of luck to you!! :)

Core Curriculum for Inpatient ObstetricsBy Susan Mattson

Im currently a student, graduating my RN program June 1 and starting my job as a postpartum nurse on June 5. Curious what an RN-C is, and if its something I will need? Thx.

I used the Core Curriculum for Maternal Newborn Nursing back in 1994 when I took cert. exam. I also ordered the mock test for it from CCPR. I found both very helpful. I took EFM too, in 2001 and used the EFM case study book from CCPR. It was very good, but not as helpful. I did pass both exams. I thought EFM was harder than MNN. Try this link http://www.ccprnet.org. Best of luck to you. I think now some of the mock tests are online. :)

Registered Nurse Charge? Where I work, you don't have to be an RNC to be a charge nurse, though.

RN,C stands for registered nurse, certified. It is an exam you take that is specialized for your field of nursing, such as OB, NICU, low risk nicu (which is NBN).
