nursing judgement

We only use a Delee for meconium at birth. Otherwise suctioning (deep or otherwise) is a nursing judgement.

If you think about this for a sec, would you WAIT to get a doc's order if a baby was choking? Of course you wouldn't.

Well I was suctioning a baby and later was told by my supervisor that i needed a dr. order. I looked in our p&p book and sure enough it wasn't there . So were can I find in text that it is okay to suction? I like evidence to support my arrgument.

NRP... Suctioning is part of the resuscitation process
