Hi guys!

I need you to help me out here please

I need to know the MOST COMMON medications that are CONTRAINDICATED Iin pregnancy.

For example i learned today that Ibuprofen is on of them which i didnt know before.

Are there any more common meds like that, which are contraindicated in pregnant women?

Thanks a lot

No ASA or any kind of NSAID. If you look most of your anti-depressants are class C while most of your ABT's are class B ( thank goodness). I am pregnant and look up everything before I take it and hate tylenol but am limited to it. I have a RX to take lasix but its a class C and I havent seen my doc yet so I havent taken it and wont because my symptoms right now are not bad enough to take it. All of the anti-psychotics I looked up are class C/D. Of course you cant take anything like a Goodys/BC Powder, Pepto or excedrine. I have found there is not much you can take.

ACE inhibitors, flouroquinolones are definite no-no's. Class C drugs usually mean that the risk of not using the drug has to be higher than the risk of using it.

There should be a comprehensive list in any Obstetric Nursing Textbook, or even Med-Surg or Pharm book.

GOOD LUCK!

I found a nice link here. Just look up the name of the drug and it says contraindications.

Also, lactmed is a really nice site for bf ladies/mommas! (http://toxnet.nlm.nih.gov/cgi-bin/sis/htmlgen?LACT)
