Very unhappy, lonely and miserable

Hello,

Anyone else love their job but hate the unsociable hours? I would really like someone to talk to about this.

I like the work I do but on my days off I am so miserable I cry. This is not how life should be surely?

Thanks. Just needing some support right now.

This is great advice. Please get some support/talk to someone about how you are feeling. It sounds like there may be deeper issues which, when addressed, may help you feel happier despite working odd hours.

You can also look online or in the local paper about clubs or activities you can join in on your days off. Make time to meet up with friends and family regularly, even if it's a chat on the phone. And be kind to yourself, eat well, go for nice walks to clear your head and perhaps find a hobby you can do by yourself so you are alone but not lonely.

But again, please utilise your Employee Assistance Program and share your feelings. All the best.

Work/life balance is key...find some enjoyable activity to do on your days off. Ideally it should be something you'd look forward to doing.

And, yes, I second the suggestion to consult with EAP or at least join a support group. Good luck to you.
