Hi everyone!

I have been accepted into Norwalk Community College's nursing program for spring 2013! But I am currently getting my Bachelors within Public Health at SCSU and plan to graudate next May 2013. In order for me to start NCC's program in Spring 2013 && finish up my Bachelors in Public Health at the same time, I am doing summer classes and 6 classes next Fall. So by spring 2013 I have a cleared schedule to start nursing at NCC and ill still be able to graduate in May. The only thing is I have not taken Microbiology. I am able to take Micro with my Intro to Nursing practice class but is that going to be extremely hard? If I had space in my schedule to do Micro prior to starting the Nursing classes I definently would but I do not have the time nor the money. Please let me know if this is going to be impossible for me.

Not impossible. Will you be busy? You betcha. It will be difficult if you have had problems with biology or sciences classes in the past. I find micro fascinating which helped me through it. Although, I didn't take it nursing courses. I've heard of people doing it. Time management will be key. You may look into getting a tutor if it becomes really tough.

Do you have to take in the spring? What about next summer?

It's possible but you'll have a full plate. You'll have lecture and lab with micro as well as intro to nursing. You'll have to worry about scheduling and timing. There may be some conflicts. Nursing schedules change a lot but if there is a set date, they are very strict. I make it sound impossible but again, it's do-able.

I really hope your right! I really enjoy biology. In AP1 I got an A- and I'm in AP2 right now and I dont expect a grade lower than a A so I've done pretty well. Although, I have heard Micro is extremely hard, so I am very nervous! Especially since I don't want to fail out of nursing school my first semester! But I am not allowed to take it any other semester; it has to be that spring semester. I looked at how both classes would be laid out and will DEFINENTLY be a full plate! I just want to hear that it is possible because it is my only way of doing the nursing program! Thank you for support!

It's doable. This past semester I took PCH with pathophysiology, A&P2 and Micro. It was crazy tough but I was one of about 15 people doing the same. Time management is your biggest friend! Best of luck to you :)

do able but if possible take micro separately in the sumemr or something you'll enjoy it more. Nursing 1st semester is stressful and there's alot of studying, new testing styles etc so you want to keep as light of a course load as you can to have some wiggle room in case you start struggling in nursing.

I took 1st semester nursing class fundamentals by itself and it was a handful. I spent the summer taking Micro with my entire nursing classmates on day 1 our Micro professor joked, "What? you all know each other?" Yes prof we been together since day 1 and we all registered for your course too becaues we heard you were the best.

It was just that micro was a vacation for us as anything non nursing was a breeze though had I been taking it together I'd not have enjoyed my experience so much. I wrote the best lab report, research paper ever because I could devote time to writing it and not do a haphazard job tryign to balance nursing classses too. My workproduct made a strong impression on my micro lab professor so much that she pulled me aside said, wow this lab assignment is above and beyond what is needed for this course. This shows pride in your work and i'm just impressed. Classmates promptly grabbed my paper and dissected it to see how one was suppose to write lab reports and papers :) who says one can't make a differnce.

GOOD LUCK! anwyays i'd suggest take it separately .. so you can focus on nursing classes that will take up 99% of your time and life.

I was also thinking of doing Micro online during my first semester of LVN program so i can go straight into RN without having to wait. And I have now decided to take Micro while im doing my intro to nursing courses B/C I have made all A's in all my classes 4.0 avg for pre reqs for LVN and RN except for Micro bc i really had no time to take it before and Im going to have to Cram it in. Even if i dont sleep. If i realize it gets too hard on me I will drop it. MIght as well take a chance.
