I'm studying for my first pharm test. In our review sheet it has a list of drugs and wants you to classify them with there schedules. One of them it has listed is acetaminophen, which as far as know is not schedule drug. Or would it be a schedule V ?

APAP is not a controlled substance.

You are right about Acetaminophen by itself not being a schedule drug. However, if it is mixed with a controlled substance it is. There are a number of drugs that are mixed with acetaminophen (Codeine and oxycodone). Do a search of the internet for a list of the DEA classification system of controlled substances or go to the DEA web site to see what this classification system is.

http://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/schedules/schedules.htm will take you to lists of controlled substances. By clicking on the links for Schedule I, II, III, IV, or V you will get a list of drugs listed under those classifications. By using the Find (on this page) function in your Edit drop down box on your menu bar at the top of your computer screen you can type in the name of a drug you are looking for and this Find function will find and highlight a drug you are looking for if it is in that particular classification.
