Researching pressure ulcers

Nursing Students Student Assist

Does anyone know of any good evidence based reserach articles about preventing of pressure ulcers in the presence of malnurtrition. I am a senior in nursing school (getting ready to graduate woo hoo!) doing a paper on this patient who has end stage renal disease. She developed a pressure ulcer during her stay in the hospital because of very poor nutrition. Anyone have any ideas?? I have searched CINAHL but I can never find what I am looking for and I know there is research out there on this. Thanks!

Check the website for National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel. Website is www.npuap.org. They have lots of good information.

try clicking on the following links.

if they don't work, you will have to manually type them in.

this case concentrates on a pt w/crf-esrd.

Also, as a side to those wonderful references...check your local hospital and talk to any wound/ostomy nurses! They are AWESOME, and will give you all sorts of material to help! The ones at my hospital are top notch and love to share info to prevent skin probelms! I love them because they are rather like me...common sense, aren't bought out by the latest and greatest marketing scams (they use the product and if it doesn't do it...they won't even use it or endorse it!) and trust me there are LOTS out there!

I love wound and ostomy nurses! They are the best!!!!!!! And...LOL, they know if I am the pts nurse and I say..."oh you gotta see this" it is going to be challenging and I will be behind them 100% if not more! If I am excited and saying OHHHHHHh...they know they have some fun and hard work ahead of them! LOL!

Thanks everyone I really appreciate it!!!!
