Ok. So I know ADPIE and all of Daytonite's descriptions. Thanks Daytonite!
But, we had a question on a quiz today that read: Mr. Jones was describing what he thought would be the use and expectation of a drug. What part of the nursing process does that fit into?
The answer was assessment. I thought the answer would be planning because in order for the client to have a drug prescribed by the doctor, we would have had to go through the assessment and diagnosis areas already.
So, my question is this...is any subjective data from the patient considered assessment data?
Thanks for any help!

Sounds like assessment to me. Sometimes you can read into the question too much. I would think any kind of data, subjective or objective, would be assessing.

yup. planning is you determining goals and nursing interventions. so, if mr. jones was actively describing something to you about how he's going to use a drug and how he expects it to work, that is not you making up a goal or a nursing intervention. it might be an evaluation of your goals if that was a choice, but it is still assessment data.
