Can anyone recommend some good Nursing journals that I should subscribe to?

Specializes in ED, ICU, MS/MT, PCU, CM, House Sup, Frontline mgr.

Look at the American Journal of Nursing (AJN). I do not know if it is any good, I just saw an advertisement in one of my classrooms the other day. :lol2:

Specializes in med/surg, telemetry, IV therapy, mgmt.

I have been subscribing for years to Nursing and RN Magazine. I'm not a particular fan of AJN. They tend to include articles that reflect research that is being done by Masters students and I've never found much of it interesting or relevant to general nursing practice. Both Nursing and RN are geared toward the working RN and have articles that address common problems that patients have as well as the latest nursing practices. Many of these articles are CE (continuing education) offerings for RNs. Both offer regular monthly pages on nursing news, legal and ethical questions, new drugs and medication errors and information on new products coming onto the market. There is also job advertising and geographical area job spotlights.

A magazine that a lot of students like is Nursing Made Incredibly Easy. It is only published bi-monthly. I had a one year subscription to it and do not plan to renew it. It is geared to students and offers information that can be found in textbooks. Nursing Made Incredibly Easy is published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins and probably 99% of the advertising in it is hawking their own products. I am not a big fan of what LWW has become since they have swallowed up Mosby, Saunders and a number of other nursing publishers. I get junk mail from them weekly and it never stops. I purchased one of their Pathophysiology books they were heavily promoting. The pictures are beautiful (they own the company that does the illustrations), but the text is pathetic. Guess they have to make money somehow to cover all the advertising expense.

I signed up for a free year of this one. Figured even if it's not all that great, it IS free.
