Nursing Bibles

Nursing Students Student Assist

Published

Hi

I am currently taking my first nursing clinical.I have three more to go. I have started purchasing different books that guide you on how to study for nursing exams and the NCLEX.

There is one thing that I need assistance with. I was wondering if there were any Nurses out there who could suggest books that a nursing student can purchase, that would be like a "bible" for any nurse - be it a student or experienced nurse. A book which can guide a student nurse and provide them with information they can use in their career.

I am also open to any books you guys can suggest to prepare me for the NLCEX and my program.

NANDA-I 2012-2014. Peerless. If you spend any time at all in the student fora you will see it in use all day long. $29 and free 2-day shipping at Amazon, or $25 and instant delivery to your Kindle or iPad.

Davis Drug Guides are primo. They've served me well since day one of nursing school. Even if you do not like Davis, have some form of reliable, current and quickly accessible drug reference guide handy. I see a lot of my classmates and coworkers ask one or two questions about a drug, rummage through the nursing station library for that 1995 PDR that is now a doorstop and then scan helplessly for that one or two things they need. Forget it. Ain't nobody got time for that. I just whip out my phone and use my Davis app like a boss. I know its format, what it can or cannot provide and where to find everything. Like a boss.

Thank You!

Pharmacology for Nursing by Richard Lehne, my absolute favorite nursing textbook. I still use it. A great mix of information about drugs and disease pathophysiology with a dash of humor when things get boring!!!

I recommend you a book, Sparks and Taylor's "Nursing Diagnosis Reference Manual" by Sheila and Cynthia. I used it at clinic for nursing process.

Also, Nclex practice book "success" series were good.
