Question:

I am preparing to talk to the parents of a 5 yr.old child who will be attending school. What suggestions can u include about preventing infection and disease?

Add do not share drinks which I found to be very common. I went through hell with my daughter as she was constantly ill with bronchitis and other infections and viruses from K-8 that would take her out of the game for 2 weeks. It was so stressful for her to catch up all the time. One of the most annoying things and one I had no control over was when parents would send their children to school ill. Most worked and it put them in a bind when they could not send their children to school.I had to instruct my daughter to stay away of those children as her private school took no action and they were not understanding at all of her plight or condition. She got really good at identifying ill children and would often say,"so and so is sick and they came to school and coughed on me", and often getting sick 3 days later. We finally did on line school for high school as we could not cope with the very limited (5 days) ill days allowable before you are truant. The absolute BEST thing for us!
