Family impact?

What is the impact on one's family once classes begin?

My starting classes honestly had little impact on my family.

My hubby had to do more laundry than he normally does, and an occasional trip to the docs office for the kids routine exams etc, but nothing life altering.

How the family is impacted is dependant on how the family can adapt to change. If the family memebers don't do well with change or don't like their routine upset, then the family impact will be pretty high. On the other hand if like my family, change is a normal part of their lives, the impact will be minimal at best.

If little Joey is used to Mom doing X Y and Z and doesn't like it if Dad or big brother/sister does it than there are bound to be problems when Mom can't do X Y or Z because she is trying to study, do homework or whatever. If the husband doesn't like doing "wifey" chores (cook, clean, laundry etc) then yes, his life, in his eyes is greatly impacted LOL

Most familys adapt and handle it well, some don't do well at all.

I'd like to think that there was little impact on my family also although DH might disagree, lol. Personally I think I pretty much did what I always took care of and just added school. I was burnt out for most of the time and didn't really have any extra left to give but felt I held up my end of the bargain. It is something you are doing for the entire family and imo they need to be supportive because its surely more painful for you than it is on them. Nursing school ain't for sissies or sissy families.

:D

lol- I totally agree with these 2- will say- it has made me 'get it together' and tighten it up- big time.My dh travels for work-not all week tho, so it was a commitment for him not to travel on my clinical days - the boys (I have 2 (11&3)+dh) really bonded more...It really has tested my communication skills with dh and the boys and to be honest, my sucking it up skills- I would love to come home and pass out but my boys need a hug&to be chatted up then I sleep! ;)
