Hello,

this is my first post on this site, actually i came here as a last resort to a question that I was surfing the net madly trying to find the answer to.

I'm working as an undergrad nurse this summer, and would specifically like to know about Novorapid and it's compatibilites when mixed in a syringe with other insulins.

(I thought i overheard a nurse on my ward mention that it's not to be mixed with NPH and the such. I didn't ask her to explain the reasoning behind it at the time, and thought i could find the answer easily in a book or online. Turned out to be more difficult than i initially thought).

Is the effectiveness of novorapid decreased when mixed? I would really appreciate a sincere answer to this (be nice-this is my first post).

Always remember you can use the hospitals pharmacy or medical library for any of that type of information that you need and are unable to find. They will have package inserts and detailed information regarding medications that are formulary.

Give them a call at next time you go for clinicals, they will be just as willing to help out a student anytime they can.

I researched your question, at the USF library. The reason given is that it alters the molecular composition of the insulin, when mixed.

I would say call your pharmacy, they will know the answer better than almost anyone,
