Capstone project on congenital hypothyroidism

Hello, I am a senior nursing student graduating in December! Finally! We need to do a capstone project on any medical disorder we like. I chose to do congenital hypothyroidism since my sister was born with it. I want to learn more about her condition and research on how to care for patients with congenital hypothyroidism. However, we need a thesis statement. That theses statement CANNOT be a yes or a no question. I was wondering if anybody here can help me choose a good topic related to this medical disorder? Is it linked to something specific? I basically need help choosing a thesis statement.

Does your school have access to CINAHL? You could search research articles on the subject and see what they connect it to.

I'd do some preliminary research before you decide on a thesis. It's easier to write about a topic that has several good research studies easily available.

To get your started, think about looking into the long term effects of chronic hypothyroidism. What other medical, physical or psychological problems could occur as a result of having congenital hypothyroidism? Perhaps you could choose one or two of those effects and research whether certain treatment modalities are better at reducing the long term complications.

That was my point. It is easier to write a paper when you already have research articles on the effects of XXX on hypothyroidism rather than deciding on something and then searching for articles on the subject.

Don1984 is right. You should do research first and then decide on what you would like to write about. If you can come up with some thesis statements then I'm sure people will be happy to help you if needed. A thesis statement is personal because it is what you will base your entire paper on. Since you are the one writing it then it will be important you come up with the statement. Good luck.

A thesis statement is merely a declaration of what you wish to discuss such as: "We will closely examine the pathophysiology, etiology, treatment and blah blah factors related to congenital hypothyroidism"

I appreciate all of your help and support. However, I never found enough research or nursing journals..

My new topic is " The Nurses's role in prevention/reduction post-c-section infections".

My school changed the idea this year from patient education to NURSE education.

Basically, how can NURSES play a role in the problem we identified.

Any suggestions on my new topic?

Does anybody know where I can find nursing journals related to my topic?

So far, I found 2, but its been very hard. We need 15 nursing journals total out of 30 articles.
