My feet HURT.

Nurses Uniform/Gear

I am in NS and work at a job where I am on my feet for at least 8 hours straight every day. I might get a 10 minute break a shift to sit down but that's another story. Lately my feet have been hurting REALLY bad across the ball of my foot (top and bottom) and I think it might be because my new tennis shoes that I wear for work (Avia I think) are too narrow. Does anyone wear wide width shoes and have suggestions for some shoes I could wear that would be at least a little bit comfortable? I can wear basically any type of shoes at work right now in almost any color. I have tried almost every brand of tennis shoes to no avail: New Balance, Reeboks, Adidas, Avia, Nike, Converse, Airwalks, all manners of generic Croc-style shoes, Baby Phat, Ecco Red... you name it, I have probably tried it. Haven't tried any nursing shoes yet so I hoped maybe someone had suggestions. Really appreciate any suggestions! Thanks in advance.

another good thing i found for PF is to wear a night splint...most of them are $50 but they are worth it. it keeps the fascia stretched at night so you don't have that pain in the morning. if the orthotics don't work, you might try the z-coil shoes they are wonderful...i've been down the road with orthotics and shoes and found these to be old feet to be pain free

Greetings, also suffer with pf-tried every shoe.Found SAS to be good, made in the USA. Now I wear Earth shoes, the 70's have made a come back. Found these are the best so far, they have a large toe box(very important)and a negative heel great for good posture.Just my 2 cents from a psycho RN /reflexologist

I've always wanted to try night splints...where did you purchase yours? I don't get pain in the morning like I used to, but I get stiffness that has to be walked out. I think I saw some in a comfort shoe store, but it is not easily assessible. I am also going to get a pair of the z-coil shoes. Many people think they are ugly-I don't...just unique. But, I will never let my feet hurt me, EVER again to the point that my quality of life is ruined.

Thanks! I always take shoe suggestions. You never know...some things that start out great change and we have to know what else to try. I'll try and see these shoes on Zappos.com.

SAS doesn't do online ordering. They do have outlet stores however, there's one near where I live. They run upwards of $100 per pair and look very "old lady-ish," no offense meant. It's just that I took one look at them and realized my ex mother in law has about 40 pair of shoes in that style.

My new balance clog-style sneaker things are a little worn just on the part that is at the very back of what would be the heel, otherwise after two years they're in very good shape. The insoles are kinda flat, though. I went to their store and (spent too much, if you ask my hubby) got their insoles to try out. The sport ones are good, inexplicably their medial arch is farther forward than it was on the original insole. After about 30 minutes on my feet I don't notice, and they feel good to work in. The Pressure relief ones have a wonky "bubble" like thing almost smack in the middle of the foot, which feels kinda springy. It's good for exactly what it says, relief, NOT running around like a chicken with my head cut off. The two nights I tried that one were vastly different and so were the results at the end. The not too hectic night, I felt good; the hectic night in them left me limping.

So I'm probably gonna take the pressure relief insoles to work, stick 'em in the locker, and wear 'em PRN but not for a whole shift.

Crocs are the best shoes EVER and are reasonably priced. I find Danskos too heavy.

Earth shoes....ugly but comfortable! I also have a couple of pairs of Nurse Mates that aren't too bad.
